[WIN7] Upgrade from WinXP

If you did not purchase Vista but instead stayed with XP can you...

1) Purchase the upgrade version of Windows 7

2) Will the upgrade version install onto your computer if you only have XP installed...

The upgrade will install if you only have XP installed..
Windows 7 upgrade will do a clean install and will not upgrade Windows XP directly though.

If you upgrade XP to Vista.. you could upgrade directly to Windows 7.
[Which is what I did, as I didn't have to reinstall everything.. IMO saving me about 3-4 hours.]

Thanks kindly for the above links...

So I don't need a copy of Vista to purchase the Win7 upgrade version?

No, just the Windows 7 upgrade.. it will have to be a clean install.
Windows 7 setup will see the installed Windows XP and accept it as proof of upgrade and continue to install.
