Re: Love and hate are human... said by Markie:Verizon and Google *don't* hate each other. Corporations don't have love and hate. They have business goals. Verizon's and Google's are normally very different. Right now they're the same - beat Apple. When they're the same, they can work together Verizon's getting desperate. They're skipping HSDPA so they'll be behind everyone else until LTE is out and they NEED something semi cool to get customers. This Droid phone certainly fits the bill and google spanked them around and forced them to support net neutrality.
I definitely like where this is going !

Adi Verizon is skipping HSDPA because they run a CDMA network. HSDPA runs on top of the UMTS network. LTE is the next logical move for them and they've announced 50 markets that will be LTE by the end of next year. -- "What is conservatism? Bell and Telus in Canada make the switch from CDMA/EVDO to UMTS/HSDPA in November for example... Verizon is completely bypassing HSDPA and moving to LTE. LTE is GSM/UMTS based, but is not compatible with HSDPA. So if Verizon wanted to support HSDPA they'd have to roll that out in addition to LTE. Just like when AT&T rolls out LTE it won't be compatible with their HSDPA 3G network. So it makes zero sense to roll out HSDPA if they're rolling out a newer technology already. -- "What is conservatism?
