 | just one catch? "given Verizon's history with closed networks and crippled devices, you have to wonder where the catch will be."
Uhh...would that there was only one catch. I fully expect the Droid phone to demonstrate the full extent of their anal retentive control freak nature. Probably we'll see multiple catches.
Perhaps it will finally STFU all the iTards out there who are frothing at the mouth over when the jesus phone will finally escape from AT&T, when they discover that Verizon is actually much worse than AT&T in terms of open-ness with devices on their network.
All wireless providers suck. Some suck worse.

| reply to a101 My Storm works just fine, the 3G is faster than "The Nation's Fastest 3G Network" anytime, any day of the week.
When Verizon gets LTE going, they're going to blow every other carrier out of the water. -- "If it can't be done with brains, it can't be done with hours" - Clarence "Kelly" Johnson |

That's good in theory, but you and Karl have it wrong. Verizon doesn't touch their smartphones, never have. Since the Droid is a smartphone, it's not going to be "crippled" as you and Karl think |

| As the owner of 3 Blackberry Pearl devices and a Blackberry Curve on VZW I can say to you that you have absolutely no idea what you are talking about. The phones have aGPS that I can use with Blackberry Maps or VZ Nav only, and the BB Maps thing is recent. If I want to use Google Maps I am stuck using triangulation unless I pay the $15 per month ransom to use it.
Don't even get me started on the BB models on other carriers that have WiFi yet don't on VZW. They do have the very best network, but I am sick and tired of their craptacular phones and their extortionate fees for EVERYTHING.
This Droid thingy better blow me away or I am gone even before my contract expires. |

Yay for Palm WebOS! Good luck to any new Verizon Android users. |
