Dodgy router?

Hi guys

I recently got a laptop and have decided to try and get it on the internet, but I don't usually have much luck when it comes to wireless networking, and this time's no different!

My home computer runs Windows XP, and the laptop is running Vista home premium.

We currently have Tiscali Broadband on the home computer, which uses a Speedtouch ADSL modem (Speedtouch 330 I think). The router (Belkin Micradigital ADSL modem with wireless router) was a cheap one off Amazon, which appears to be set up right, and replaces the speedtouch modem. Problem is, when I try to connect to the internet, it rarely gets online and, when it does, only stays online for a few minutes before disconnecting again!

I have been able to connect my laptop to the home computer, which is promising as well, but haven't yet had any luck getting the laptop on the internet... Though at present, when I try to access the home computer from the laptop, I get asked for a used name and password, despite not having set any...

Router link, if it's any use:

I don't know if maybe it's a faulty router, or if it's a common problem, but any suggestions would be greatly appreciated Thanks!
