| Any research exists on "Acai berry" and "Teeth whitening"?
I am amazed at predominance of "Acai berry" and "Teeth whitening" advertisements all over the web. On some sites there is no other ads other then these 2 categories. Even when you google "acai berry scam" you mostly get sites of scammers!
It surely seems that these are very well coordinated campaigns. Was there ever some research done to see who is behind them? |

| Am I the only one who thought we had a "Acai berry" and "Teeth whitening" forum spammer?? You might be seeing more "Acai berry" and "Teeth whitening" ads than the average Joe Schmoe if advertisers have you pegged as being interested in the product via tracking cookies. |

1 edit | reply to JoeSchmoe007 Most of the tooth whitening ones are scams. One in particular has gotten about as annoying as the X10 Wireless Camera popup ads were when they plagued the web.
said by wired.com : Nowhere in this ad for a "trial offer" of Farend Service's Dazzle Smile Pro did we encounter text informing us that by entering a credit card number we were signing up for a series of expensive shipments.
“The use of negative marketing options [that offer] a free trial and then you get billed every month over and over again, is being used to sell so many products online right now, and it’s just a scourge of the internet,” said Allison Southwick, spokeswoman for the Better Business Bureau. “People are getting ripped off across the country for any number of products [including these tooth-whitening products] when they think they are getting a free trial.”

Edit: And I would not doubt the Acai ones are similar. After all, I have seen it used for a while now in spam subject lines. -- "The trouble with computers, of course, is that they are very sophisticated idiots." - Doctor Who (from Robot)

| reply to JoeSchmoe007 There was a known scammer/spammer on Reddit who did an interview where you could ask him any question and he said the Acai berry scam blew up after it was on Oprah. He said the biggest way scamming works is to pay attention to current trends and exploit guillible people. -- RackUnlimited.com - Hosting Without Limits |
