Yahoo error 15 and 17

Problems still exist this morning. I went into web mail and received a yahoo 15 and 17 error. The report form that appeared from yahoo seemed to ask questions as if they know what it is.

This somewhat validates an earlier report and problem of mine stating that this started happening once yahoo took over the mail

Task 'Ed xxxxxxxx (Personal) - Receiving' reported error (0x800CCC92) : 'Your e-mail server rejected your login. Verify your user name and password in your account properties. Under Tools, click E-mail accounts. The server responded: -ERR [SYS/TEMP] maildrop unavailable.'

Error 2 when I go to yahoo webmail.

Problem has reared its head again here. Just checking if to see if there is mail and this is the response that comes up;

"The connection was intentionally closed by the server before the session was completed"

Then if I try to download mail I get this response;

"Connection to pop.att.yahoo.com timed out"

If I immediately try again it goes ahead and downloads any mail available.

Looks to me like this is definitely a finger pointing at Yahoo! as the problem.

Yes as I reported it to them, I got emails that said it was a temp issue and it should resolve itself in hours, yet it usually goes on for days and still is as we speak.

Glad to finally nail it as a yahoo issue, but ATT needs to step up and do something.

The problem still exists and has gotten worse here. I can receive email intermittently without trouble but now the server won't accept any outgoing this morning. #$&%#@*

Are they Ever going to fix the problem????????

GB34 - I sympathise with you. This time no one official has joined the threads that I know of and indeed the problem continues in various forms.

If I am actually denied sending or receiving after 2 or 3 tries it's time for the ATT Direct forum. In my case, with Outlook, a retry usually succeeds immediately and of course, YMMV. None the less it's VERY AGGRAVATING!!!

I complained to Yahoo, they told me to contact ATT. Its a revolving door that no one wants to help with!

I found a post on a search that spoke about a patch for Outlook relative to fixing issues with SSL, but I never could find the patch.

By chance are any of you SWBELL Legacy customers?

Not sure what you mean by that but I assume I am as it was SW Bell when I signed on in Dec '04 and they bought ATT after that.

This morning when I logged on I could receive but not send email. I had a Anti-Virus update that required a reboot and now when I try to log on it keeps saying "Sending of password did not succeed. Mail server responded invalid user/password"

Think my next step is a post in Direct.

I am not SWBELL Legacy. When I came aboard DSL it was SBC/Yahoo!, in mid 2004. I'm convinced my particular issue is Yahoo! Mail Server related.

Never heard of an Outlook patch to fix SSL although there could be one. Running Outlook 2003 SP3 here and it is fully patched ASFAIK. I can recreate my issue now on an old W98SE machine using Outlook Express!

GB34 - What email client are you using? Direct may be a good idea for you. Your symptoms seem to be worse than mine.

My Bad! I remembered after posting that it was SBC/Yahoo! although I still thought of it as SW Bell.

I'm using Thunderbird but going the Yahoo site with their log-in didn't work either.

I decided I'd try a phone call first just in case and Lo and Behold. I got a very nice, very knowledgeable lady who helped me. She fought it for quite a while but finally gave up and had me change the password. That seemed to solve the problem, for the time being anyway.

Don't know what had happened, maybe a stray voltage spike in their servers scrambled the password. I can't believe it was compromised any other way as it was quite long using a variety of characters. I have a friend who also had the same problem recently and he had to change his password too.

At any rate things are working now.
