Re: I think it's time to replace the WRT54G

Have you tried a hard reset to factory defaults?

in the routers internal page? sometimes that can time out as well or it will half load the page.

I've pressed the reset button many of times.. sometimes that will cause it to work but only to act funny later on like when the power goes out.

Well then, I think it is time to replace it.

I just replaced my WRT54G v4 with a WRT610N.

My old router was losing connection every couple weeks and in between, it was timing out my XBox connections during heavy use.

I would definitely go with an "N" capable router. I stick with Linksys.

I chose the WRT610N because it also has a USB storage port. You can attach any USB external hard drive or thumb drive to it.

I was wondering what that USB port was for..

the only thing is I don't have any "N" gear around now.

Any of those "N" routers are backward compatible with "G & B".

Look through the different models. It's a mix & match of options like the USB port.
