15-day half-month limit reached?

Thanks to the glitchy bandwidth recording system, I've technically reached the half-month limit according to the bandwidth management chart; the glitch follows like this: Say I download 1,700 mb in one day, I checked the bandwidth management page the next day and it says 1,700 mb. Within 3 gb, right? Well, 4 hours later, I check it again only to find that it's doubled or sometimes even more. What causes this is a mystery beyond my understanding. Thanks to this the bandwidth management page thinks I've downloaded a loooooot more.

My connection hasn't been terminated yet, but is anyone else out there still experiencing this same issue?

I do. Here's a comparison of my usage according to CableOne and DUMeter.
DUMeter measures Internet traffic + local traffic between my main PC and two laptops (which are used for simple web-browsing). e.g. i'm using some programs/files installed on my main PC on my laptops \\192.168.xx.x )

with two days missing: 4'th & 5'th it's already 11 days over limit

According to DUMeter which didn't miss anything it's only 6'th or 7'th

same stats sorted by amount of bandwidth:

So i don't know what's the problem, stats are off by a large margin. Sometimes CO stats are over the actual amount and sometimes they're much less. As I remember Aug and Sep CableOne stats didn't have that. I've even put 63 character WPA-TKIP password on wireless in a case someone was hacking that... but i don't think that someone was playing around w/ it.

56 gb in one day?! I'm afraid to download more than 10 gb in one day. Looks like CableOne is pretty relaxed about that.

From what I understand, ARP/junk packets also account for data which hits the router/NIC, but it's usually no more than 30-50 mb per day.

It looks like their problem though and if they terminate my account, I won't be happy.

What I THINK you need watch is the period of 12PM to 12AM; the "Enforcement Period Usage." Check that fancy meter on the upper right site of your "my bandwidth" page. Anything after that period shouldn't matter. Thus, the records page that CableOne keeps is defiantly flawed and VERY confusing.

To put your mind at ease, I would go ahead and contact your city's Internet Manager directly. He/She should be able to clear things up. You can do that by logging into cableone.net and setting you location. Then, select contact us on the upper right. You'll find your locate number to call; just request to speak to the I'net Manager. Most of the time, they'll be happy to speak directly to customers.

Or, visit »www.cableone.net/AAU/Pages/conta···ion.aspx (again, after setting your location) and fill out the form. This area USED send emails directly to the Internet Manager before the CableOne website was redesigned. So, I don't know if it still does.

Every so often, I email our I'net Mgr directly for concerns or issues we have. She doesn't seem to mind, but I defiantly don't over do it!

In MY opinion, I don't think you have anything to worry about... and I defiantly don't think you should loose sleep over it.

So, the thing about this is..

areoh is definitely right. The caps are in place for those who consistently go over the bandwidth usage, but CableOne hasn't started pulling the trigger on people who utilize bandwidth to excess. More importantly, I assure you that CableOne is aware of the issues with MyBandwidth, and they're working to get it fixed.

If it helps any, I'm just as sick of taking calls about incorrect figures in customers' bandwidth reports as you are of seeing them.
