It was such an abrupt change. I can't believe they didn't communicate it to their users somehow: "Starting on XX/XX, you will see a different page when you first log on to Facebook..." Instead you logged in and met with the News Feed. I was totally confused and to go digging to find the familiar Status Updates. That is all I look at. I imagine everyone else was just as shocked/confused.
Silly me upgraded my Facebook for Blackberry application and now it includes the Live/News Feed dropdown. I have to manually change it to Status Updates every time I load the app. Any way to change it? No big deal, it is just annoying.

Thank you all. This was actually a useful rant thread. I haven't been bothering with Facebook because of all that crap, but I logged in and tried a couple tips in this thread. Made my own list and moved it to the top so I only see my friends by default, not all the things I am a fan of too. I also used the tips for blocking apps within my feed, also blocking invites from them too(which I never found useful until the tip for blocking them within my feed).
I'll also add that for mobile notifications, if an option is only offered for e-mail, many mobile providers have an email address to send texts to your phone. A tip I have is to do that for things like incoming messages. Then you can see the full message without replying "n" 10 times for another piece of the message way short of the standard text limit. The address on AT&T is 10digit@txt.att.net I know Verizon has this too but forget the address. |
