I have not decided. But I am worried that this vaccination was rushed. |

Jolie Take my advice.. I don't use it anyways. Premium join:2004-08-07 London, ON | No, I won't be. It's too new and there hasn't been enough research done on it. Nobody knows how it will affect a person in the short or long term as far as side effects go. There isn't enough information out there to convince me to get the shot. |

Will get it when the clinic comes to my office. I do every year and haven't had the flu since.
Please enlighten me as to why the H1N1 flu vaccine is significantly any different than any other annual flu vaccine? My understanding is that it is produced in exactly the same way as the regular annual flu vaccine but with a different virus strain (ie. H1N1).

| reply to BigSensFan I learned that some doctors spend their time writing books to make money off suckers instead of learning about nutrition and helping their patients.
To the question at hand, absolutely YES. I am very busy and do not want to get sick be it normal flu or the more benign H1N1 flu. Sick is sick and I hate how I feel and how it disrupts my work, family life, any vacations etc. etc... Its full of inert virus which allows my body to develop antibodies. Ding ding ding, this is not a bad thing, and how we have fought off polio, diptheria and others. If you want to be ignorant of history suit yourself. I am not afraid of getting the H1N1 flu, I am healthy and should be able to handle it no probs, but I would rather avoid feeling crappy or giving it to someone who perhaps has a compromised immune system. -- Ain't nuthin but the blues! | reply to BigSensFan No shot here either. And I have a serious distrust of doctors ever since one told my wife she was miscarrying and there was nothing we could do (my son is a healthy 6 year old and troublemaker now), sent my mother in law out of the ER with a 79 O2 sat (My mother in law was down to half a lung at that point and died 2 weeks later at age 58.) Couldn't figure out for over a year that my niece was having an appendix issue causing her to miss a ton of school, being dizzy and vomiting quite often, and actually going the bullemic (sp?) route. One guy, who is actually a friend, was wondering why we were giving our 6month old apricots when we brought him in for an allergic reaction to apricot baby cereal.. Meh, neither here nor there, I am sure there are just as many stories of heroic tales. |

| reply to Anon Has anyone watched the news a couple of days ago with the Doc's who refused the swine-flu shots?
One doctor figured he already got the swine-flu and is refusing to take the shot. He was on the news because Health Canada wouldn't release his results to him and just told him to take the shot instead.
He said no. He won't take the shot if he already caught the swine-flu and his body already built a resistance to this strain. It turned into somewhat of a bitch-fest in the media. Seems Health Canada bent and gave him his results in the end.
In another TV news coverage, a pregnant Ottawa area Doc was told to take, and give, other pregnant women the adjuvanted flu shot since the non-adjuvant shot was in short supply. Health Canada said its safe and there are no worries.
She refused and also refused to give this advice to other pregnant women based on no clinical research.
Been a few things on TV so far that raised eyebrows, and being told by doctors themselves. |
