| Qwest Torrenting
I'm a new customer to Qwest, and generally use torrenting for whatever downloading I have to do, and have found myself completely unable to download things using torrent programs.
Is there some sort of port forwarding or firewall issue on the PK5000 that disallows usage of torrent programs? |

| Have you tried to force encryption? I am assuming that you are using Windows and uTorrent? If so this tutorial will be helpful: »torrentfreak.com/how-to-encrypt-···traffic/ -- Duct tape is like The Force it has a light side and a dark side, and it binds the Universe together |

I am not new to Qwest, and I have never had any problem getting BitTorrent to work on a Qwest connection.
You do understand that if you are behind a firewall or gateway/router, you need to open up ports to incoming connections ('port forwarding') for optimal P2P performance?

| reply to zzls Same issue i had, i suspect it is there qwest install cd they make you use if your using windows, i believe it secretly installs a rootkit on your machine to block torrents.
The only way to fix it, reformat your machine and never ever put that qwest cd back in your computer. I did that and mysteriously my torrents worked fine.
I have 2 computers, i used the cd in one of them when i got qwest this month. My laptop was fine downloading the same torrent, but my desktop wasn't. Both computers have identical installs, in fact were formatted a week before qwest. So the only plausible reason would be a root kit. |

| reply to zzls not sure this is related [i don't use torrents myself]
Ive intermittently had issues with encrypted traffic across qwests network like it seems like its getting throttled really bad if your using encryption maybe try not using encryption? like your gonna get a man in the middle attack on a torrent anyhow, encryption would only protect you from a man in the middle attack for sure. |

If they did they own the network so no reason to rootkit your computer. Just do it at the network level. Plus you do not need their CD. A third party ISP is fine. However, unless you need special features or maybe they are better connected to the net in a certain area no real reason for them. A grandma cruising the net would not notice. A heavy or specialized user may notice. If you need special things a third party may be better. |
