SMCWBR14-3GN + Huawei E1962

Hello All,
I've just bought a SMCWBR14-3GN router to use it with my Huawei E1962 USB Modem. The problem is that I have some trouble configure configuring the router to use the USB Modem. I select the WAN connection as 3G and set the params of my carrier (Tim Italy: apn (ibox.tim.it and th) and the phone number (*99#)). The router sees the modem, but it doesn't dial/connect.
Can anyone help me with this issue?

List of compatible 3G modems for this device appears limited:

3G USB Modem Support List*
• Huawei E220
• Huawei E800
• Huawei E172
• ASUS T500
• BenQ Qisda H10
• BandLuxe C100
• SonyEricsson MD300
• Novatel USB727

Mine is working perfectly with the Huawei E220. The 3G Button does not appear to work though.

My firmware is Ver : smcmr3306a-1.0.1.8-beta-EUr1885.ba

yes, I know that it works with E220, but it should work also with E1962. It is just a driver initialization problem. I've seen that the Telnet port is open but need root pass, and the stupid smc guys closed the root access. I've opened a ticket and for a few weeks nothing ... smc support is just awful.
