Re: rip off

These prices are not impressive. I use MetroPCS which include talk, text, web , GPS and unlimited 411. Plus I have my phone insured through MetroGPS. My grand total is $66 a month after tax. If I want that with T-mobile probably $100 + per month.
One thing. MetroPCS is available in very few areas. They are cheaper because their service is only available in limited areas. Good for those who don't travel much and live in a covered area. Their costs are lower because their infrastructure is extremely concentrated and limited.

I can't get MetroPCS where I am right now (Denver) or where my hometown is (Fredericksburg, TX). I can get two local unlimited providers in TX though, but that doesn't do me any good because I'm in Denver too much. I can get CricKet in both places but that doesn't do me much good because their network tends to suck in both places.

I know friends in FL (where relatives are) who like MetroPCS and that's fine. However for MANY people it won't serve their needs.

If you live in a market it will serve their needs. Home, grocery store, job, school, soccer practice for kids, movie theater, walmart, your done. If your going somewhere else, pay for the roaming, like in the old days, don't be charged every month for the ability to roam somewhere where you will never step foot in your life.

Here's the thing: I'd be roaming 100% of the time.

With CricKet, I'd be roaming about 20% of the time.

With Sprint, I'm roaming 0% of the time.

Sprint works best for me.

Similarly, the rest of my family would be roaming with CricKet about 35% of the time because I think they have one tower in town. So that doesn't work.

Then don't act like they serve your market when they don't. Its like complaining Comcast doesn't serve you when Charter or mom and pop cable company from hell does.

CricKet "serves" me, as in they say they do on marketing material.

I'm just making the point that an unlimited carrier (mostly CricKet or MetroPCS) isn't for everyone.

Besides, neither carrier has a decent data network.
