| Debating picking it up at Midnight myself. I have the LE on pre-order. I have to work early tomorrow, so I'll probably end up just waiting until lunch break to pick it up since I won't be able to play much after 12:30am.
I have a pretty good core of friends who are waiting on this as well (we just finished up an A Class racing Cup in Forza 2 actually).

| Just got done playing for today, I played for less than 2 hours but I got up to level 4 and bought myself a sweet 2004 Audi S4. Now that thing tears up cars off the line and overall I am impressed for such a heavy car. I got this because I was interested in buying one for real and wow is all I can say. -- DO DO | |

| Re: Forza 3? Yeah, plenty of great options though. I like to look at the leaderboards for ideas. One cool thing about Forza 3 is that if your current car is too high of a class due to your modifications it will automatically give it a balanced detune. Also being able to save the parts setup saves some time when you only want to do one of the low end races then restore it after. -- DO DO | |

| Re: Forza 3? It's been a bit of a mixed bag for me. On one hand, you have better car models, cleaner look to the menus, more tracks, etc.
On the other hand, you have the game dumbed down a bit to cater to the casual racing crowd more (auto tune, auto brakes, rewind, matchmaking in public lobbies) but I think they did very well all things considered, but I feel the game could have been so much more with a few changes.
I'm still tempted to pick up a cheap Foxbody Stang and just spend it up on parts for the drag strip.

My Audi was just for fun and I'm looking at getting a more serious race vehicle. I finally broke the crowbar out on my virtual Forza wallet and bought some cars. I picked up a Foxbody Mustang and upgraded it to the top of B class for now. My friends ran a 2 lap Fuji drift event (going for the 100,000 drift point achievement) and while I managed about 55k points...it was not easy in that car!
I also picked up a 370z and tuned it to B class as well. Better for drifting, but almost too much in control. Finally, I picked up a favorite from F2..the '82 911 Turbo.

cbrigante2, i wonder if the fox body stang will be squirrely. body flex of the fox bodies make them tough to drag with. -- "Funny thing, there use to be a time when that was enough." Jim Ignatowski

| Re: Forza 3? I have done a double sideways roll before on accident. Let's just say I was experimenting.
But yeah, I agree with that cbrigante2. That was one of the first things I noticed, how this game caters to even the dumb drivers by basically holding your hand.
Just curious, what would make this game so much more?
I personally was really expecting more myself as it really didn't add much to the Forza 2 experience but Forza 2 was awesome as well. I found the drag to be pretty lame so far, there is no way I am driving that consistent to the thousandth of a second.
Is there a dedicated drift mode, I was planning on building a purpose built drift car but it seems like the drift is just sort of integrated to regular races. Really weird to me. Press left d-pad and observe top right to see for yourself. -- DO DO

| Re: Forza 3? To answer sapo , what would make the game so much more.
Well, for starters, it would be nice if they bumped the online lobby limit to 12 to get those 4 extra racers in (I'll admit to being a little selfish about this one since..yes I do have over 12 friends that have this game and we normally run a private lobby or two to make up for the 8 player limit).
On to the next ones. I can admit to being a bit of a Forza fanboy. That being said, I have to believe that Turn 10 must have had a sinking feeling the minute they saw or played the in car view of a game like NFS Shift. This was a highly touted feature in 3, and all the excitement and momentum this game had because of it was lost once I played the demo after playing Shift. Sure, Shift doesn't come close to Forza on most things, but it leapfrogs Forza in two of them...in car...and audio. One could argue that the track graphics are better as well, but I'll be fair and only compare the new ones to it and they come up pretty even.
The one other great missing feature IMO is day/night progression in race. If you are going to have a strong ALMS series tie in with most of the field in the game, and throw in Le Mans circuit...where the 24 hour race was popularized....you almost have to put this in. Imagine an actual 24 hour race at Le Mans in this game with day/night? How about a 12 hours at Sebring?
After that, sure you could throw weather in as a feature that would be nice to have...but not deal breaker in my book. I'm hoping that they come out with Mosport as a DLC track as well..just to help complete the ALMS feel to it.

| My Fanatec wheel is supposed to arrive Nov. 4th. I've read so many good things about this wheel, I can hardly stand the wait.
I love driving, but I'm not much of a racing fan, against AI or real people. That said, I am very happy that all of the cars and tracks are available for me to enjoy in the hot laps. I have messed around in the season mode, but I'm only doing it as a means to an end. I'll eventually want to make some customizations to some of the cheaper, everyday driver cars. I doubt I would want to do anything to the more expensive exotics. I'm not into "Hello Kitty" Murcielagos.
I'm gonna spend a good deal of time with Forza 3 this weekend, starting in a few hours. I'll have to settle for the Xbox wireless wheel for the time being, but after putting in several hundred hours with the Logitech G25 in other games, it's just not as fun. It's still better than using the controller, at least for me. At first I was going to just use my controller until my Fanatec wheel arrived, but I broke down and setup the MS wheel last night. I just can't go back to using a controller.
I love the varied track selections in this version. They have a good mix of tracks that are perfect for low hp compacts and cars like the VW GTI or Ford Focus. I had a blast on the Sedona club track using slower cars, where the 400+ hp monsters just don't match up that well in stock format, in the same manner that Nürburgring is not the best track for an unmodified Honda Fit or the Datsun 510. (still fun in sections, but there are better tracks for these cars)
I might have to consider skipping the family visit in Florida for Thanksgiving this year, just to be able to have 5 free days of nothing to do but play.

| Re: Forza 3? Nice. Yeah I have the MS Wireless Wheel, but I never took to it with Forza 2. Forza 3's physics tend to be a lot more "grip" than F2's were, so using the controller doesn't seem to be holding me back as much.
That Fanatec wheel looks like a great investment for this. Did you go with the standard pedals or the Club Sport?

4 edits | Re: Forza 3? said by cbrigante2 :That Fanatec wheel looks like a great investment for this. Did you go with the standard pedals or the Club Sport? I originally bought the Pure edition wheel almost a year ago! It's being shipped without any pedals, but it does include an adapter that will allow me to use my Logitech G25 pedals. However, Fanatec was going to include a copy of the Forza 3 game, but they did not get any copies at the time they were ready to start shipping the wheels out, so they have offered me a $50 store credit, which I will use to get the standard pedals. I'm used to the G25 pedals, so I'm not as impatient about the new ones getting here right away.
I tried using the shifter and clutch a few times with the G25, and I've been driving a manual since I learned how to drive in a 78' Datsun 510 hatchback (giving away my 40+ age ) , but I don't enjoy it as much in games. The feel is missing, and it's just not the same for me. I just use the paddle shifters, and although the shifter and clutch seems much better with Forza 3 and the Fanatec, it's probably not something I would regularly use.
Initially I was a bit hesitant to drop so much money (it's even more expensive now) on an unproven wheel being made in Germany, but most people seem thrilled with the product. Gonna be tough playing the game without the new wheel, but I will appreciate it more when it finally arrives. The MS wheel that I have is fairly new, as I wore out my original one. It's a bit clunky and makes odd sounds now and again, and the occasional downshifting from 3rd to 1st instead of 2nd coming into a corner is a bit annoying, but for the most part the wheel is doable.
This game is very good with the controller, but it's not as smooth as when using a wheel, and part of my fun is watching the replay after taking a few laps. In the replays it's very noticeable between using the controller and using a wheel, although after using the controller for some time, I was getting smoother turns with fewer quick corrections on the straights, but I switched to the wheel before I got very proficient with the controller.
Edit: I have to say that the replays are MUCH better in this version of Forza. Not as good as the Gran Turismo series, but greatly improved over Forza 2. The cars now seem to have a more natural body roll as compared to the seemingly flat action of the cars in the previous iteration. And there are fewer zoomed-in shots of my wheel as I maneuver into a tight hairpin or tricky chicane.

You can see me twitching away on this replay from last night (granted, that Veyron is a handful to begin with) from using the controller.

| I love this game! I'm addicted. I got a free copy of it and I can't stop playing. The graphics and sound are incredible. I just finished season 7 in season play and now i'm going to try and slowly finish off the event list. Tip for anyone who just picked up this game: To get 2 quick achievements (Demon and Interior) take the Bugatti Veyron to the 1 mile drag at Sedona. Leave the car stock and select cockpit view from the HUD before the race. 25.3 seconds @ 210 MPH. DONE! | |

| Re: Forza 3? My only major problem is the lack of any local leaderboard. It's getting to be a pain keeping track of my hotlap times with spreadsheets. It's probably the biggest reason why I'm not playing it as much as the last version. All I do is hotlaps. I make my own time attack challenges with certain groups of cars on different tracks. I love it. It's what I do, and driving games are my absolute favorite. Mix Test Drive Unlimited with Forza 3 and I'd probably never play another video game.
It's wonderful that I'm not forced to plod through countless hours of frustrating and monotonous racing verse the AI for the "privilege" to be able to use any car on any track in a local time trial/hotlap run. But, not having any local ranking of any type is ruining my experience. I'd be happy with just a top ten list on each track. A top 10 from each class would be similar to last years local leaderboard. Perhaps this can be corrected with a patch?
I hope Polyphony Digital takes note of this with Gran Turismo 5. Gran Turismo does a fine job with the local leaderboard, the only problem is you usually have to race some 12-hour endurance race just to make some super car available to run a few laps at Tsukuba.

| Yeah the local leader boards were a rare feature I never really took advantage of. Kind of a shame they took it out since it really wasn't hurting F2. My only guess is that Turn 10 was trying everything they could to keep everyone racing as a community.
I guess my main issue with the GT games (and yes, I have GT5P) is the game mechanic feels the same now as it did with GT1. I'm told the physics are better, but it just feels off to me. I'm sure I'll pick it up when it ships (summer now?). I just have a feeling F3 is going to be the game I come back to.
