| Netflix Streaming Coming to PS3 Nice! Hopefully this will force the Play Station Network to re-evaluate their price structure and/or the length of time you have available to view the movies you rent. -- Don't worry, scrote. There are plenty of 'tards out there living really kick-ass lives. | |

Hopefully this will force the Play Station Network to re-evaluate their price structure and/or the length of time you have available to view the movies you rent. Sony doesn't control the length of time you rent movies. Well I guess they do for their own movies, but i doubt they want to break from the industry standard(the content provides dictate the rental period). Which is 24 hours. Until you get the major players to break from that mold, that will be the norm. And there is no incentive to break from that mold if the other big players are doing the same thing.
Personally I wish they would implement a 30 hour rental period. That would help the consumer while still keeping the period short for the providers. But no one has gone that route yet.

| Re: Netflix Streaming Coming to PS3 So you're saying it is the company that owns the rights to that movie that dictate the length the rental is available to watch via PSN? Aside from movies I've purchased through PSN, all the rentals I've RENTED from PSN always been limited to 24 hours to watch the movie from the point I have started the download and 12 hours once I have activated the movie (by starting it). I've rented tons of movies via PSN, so I'm fairly certain not all the titles I have rented are companies where Sony is the parent company.
All I'm saying, especially considering the $3.99 price tag for new, SD, mainstream releases, $5.99 for HD. It would just be a nice gesture if they tacked on an extra day as a contingency for those who couldn't get around to watching the movie in that relatively short period of time. But that's just my opinion. I don't have a problem going a few blocks to Hasting's and having a rental for 5 days and cheaper too. -- Don't worry, scrote. It is the same length on VUDU, Xbox Live, Amazon, etc. Although some independent labels give you 48 hours, the majors only give you 24 hours. This is nothing new. It has been this was for a while.

The great thing about Xbox is that any video content purchased can be viewed on any Xbox as long as you are logged in with the gamertag that the content was purchased with. This has come in handy with my Xboxes.
I just wish I could do something similar with my VUDU boxes.
