Which console will support 1080i/p the best? I assume both can be forced to up convert from the normal 720p, but does one do it better than the other? I would prefer the signal to be up converted to 1080i or 1080p before it reaches the monitor.

| In actual games, the ps3 rarely can be forced to upscale to 1080i/p... there is a 'hack' in the sense of unchecking 720p and 1080i, but then you also run the risk of where you find a game that won't let you upscale and instead downscales all the way down to 480i/p.
At least the 360 will upscale any games, even those that don't explicitly list support for 1080p. -- Front Line Force Fortress Forever |

| The 360 was always able to handle 1080p over component.
You only needed VGA (or HDMI) if you wanted it to upscale DVD movies (beyond 480p) and HD-DVD's on the add-on drive. -- Front Line Force Fortress Forever |

Just be sure to use the VGA or HDMI cables to upscale dvds for the 360 as already suggested. -- One time a person asked where the F button was on their keyboard. I told them they would find it next to the U button. |

| reply to Jet I have a dedicated Blu-Ray player, so I will not be using the console for movies. My Plasma is mounted on the wall and the HDMI cable is hidden, and all signals go to a HDMI switch(all into input 1). That is the reason I would like to output 1080. I would rather not have to switch the TV to 720 every time I would like to play, All my other inputs are 1080.
Now I can use the side HDMI(input 3) and set that input only to 720 and have the TV scale to 1080. But, that involves cables hanging out of my TV.
For me to use components, I would have to unmount my TV and plumb the cables through the wall...not what I want to do.
It appears that the 360 may be the best option for me and the configuration I have setup. Thanks for the helpful information!
