now my question is does their answer trump what the web site says? can i request the highest available speed and see what funnels through the line to my home, or am i simply capped at the 512K down speed. Could i get amplifiers and caps installed anywhere to strenghthen this signal boos for my house.

ps i have sprint evdo now, it sucks more or less. but i did a speed test and was at 586 down, and 292 up on average. so no better it seems through centurytel......

Uh...what? That makes absolutely no sense. Either you work for Charter, or have never personally experienced their "quality" service.
Please explain how DSL is inferior to cable. My experience has been the complete opposite anywhere Charter is concerned.

So right now, I am leaning towards staying with the Charter 5Mbps (commercial) service that I have (for $48/month). If you don't mind me asking, how much is the 10M Pure service setting you back? I've never seen an advertised price on it -- just the 1.5Mbps Pure. Pure DSL does ride on dialtone. You can use this dialtone for 911.
Charter service sucks butt around here. Their service sucks product-wise, and especially customer service-wise.
Either AT&T or CenturyTel are a better alternative to Charter.

Another thing that is keeping me from switching is the fact that after the first year of DSL, CenturyLink will raise the price from the promo price of $29.95/month (which I know know is $35/month with taxes and fees). Iwas told CenturyLink's regular price is like $49.95/month for 1.5Mbps DSL service. Even if they only raise the price $10/month (instead of $20) then I'd be paying only a couple dollars less for 1.5Mbps DSL then I would for 5Mbps cable modem service that I can get from Charter now.
