In that case, it's a scam. The web page said something about how they would show you how to do it without additional expense of hardware and software. That means they're encouraging violating your Windows license (installing it multiple times) or using an illicit copy like micro_XP.

I can't verify what they said because their web site's unavailable at the moment. But, if the wording above is correct, I think anyone could buy the book and immediately dispute the charge with their CC company that it didn't deliver what's advertised.

Maybe so. Thanks. Maybe the post I read a few months ago only meant you'd need add-on USB hubs/controllers if you had more than 2-3 virtual machines.

I still think we ought to get 10-20 of us to put up $5-$10 and buy that ebook and find out what it's about. Maybe they've found a way to rename registry entries and create a unique namespace for each instance of MJ. (I doubt it. But, it would be worth a few dollars to find out.).

Win7+VMWare workstation 6.5.3

And I have no problem connecting 2 USB devices on same usb root hub(checked with usbview.exe) to 2 virtual machines(one Debian and one Windows xp). I don't have multi MJs but they should work out the same.

Yes. That's what I read a few months ago. But, I agree with you that I haven't noticed such a requirement when running just one virtual machine, connecting one USB flash device mounted on one USB root hub.

I don't know if it's different with the MJ device, or with multiple virtual machines sharing one root hub. Just relaying what I read, and there might be that requirement for one root hub per virtual machine.

I haven't done it myself, but I've read that you can use a virtual machine to run a second (or more) MJ. But, the trick is that each virtual machine needs its own USB controller. Thus the requirement for individual add-on controllers.

I don't know if that last part is true. Using the free VMware Server, I can take individual USB devices from the Windows "host" to the "guest" operating system. Maybe when more than one guest is present, it requires dedicated USB buses. (Anyway, just going by what I read in the past.).

Regarding thin clients, they probably don't have the horsepower to run "guest" machines within a "host" OS.

We should take up a collection to buy this book and see what's in it. I'm in for $10.

Just run VirtualBox or VMWare Server on your Windows box, running Windows inside the virtual machine, and using an add-on USB card dedicated to the virtual machine.

IMO, if someone spends $99 they should post the information here or on magicjacksupport.com. There have been so many people helping other MJ users for free, sharing information (like how to change proxies), it's ridiculous that anyone would believe they can sell info. Especially at that price.

It's probably $99 (instead of $10) because they know it's either 1) a scam, or 2) the info will be shared. They're just trying to make as much as they can while they can.

I did phone them at their number, and suprisingly enough, a guy named Chris was happy to answer my questions (although not providing answers I guess they already wrote in their book). I did find it a little surprising that they are MagicJack users themselves and willing to answer the phone; when MagicJack themselves have a hard time getting their act together in that department.

Anyhow, I ordered it, got it (I apparently was one of their first few customers for their info), and am in the process of making it all work. I shall let everyone know...
