| ZYwall 5 and Netgear DG632
Hey guys this is my first post but here goes...
I have a netgear DG632 connected (in modem mode) to my Zywall 5. The problem I am having is that occasionally for no apparent reason the Netgear modem will randomly drop the lan connection to the Zywall. In order to get it to work again I need to reboot the modem, sometimes 7-8 times before it will work again...any ideas why this would happen?
I have noticed that if i use the modem directly with the pc i have no problems at all... |

1 edit | Unfortunately, my Z5 /modem connection never fails . I've used a Cisco 836 as modem without any problems, as well as an Arcor D200 (a pure ADSL modem).
Long ago I had a Netgear FVS318 connected to a Speed Touch Home, a combination that was quite capricious and regularly saw the Netgear disconnect from the modem. This turned out to be an electrical incompatibility between the two devices, which was solved by inserting a hub between the Netgear and the Speed Touch.
If you have a spare hub or switch gathering dust, it might be worth trying if inserting it between the Netgear and the Z5 solves your problem. -- "Technically, Windows is an 'operating system,' which means that it supplies your computer with the basic commands that it needs to suddenly, with no warning whatsoever, stop operating." -Dave Barry
