| Microsoft Security Essentials Freezes Computer On Windows 7!
I nstalled above on Windows 7 and froze computer and kept freezing on restart. Finally in safe mode was able to do a system restore to get back on. Took off Zone Alarms anti virus program and still froze. Is there a solution? I need an anti virus program that is free. It looks like I am not the only person this has happened to. I have yet to find a solution. Help appreciated, thanks. -- Love That SpongeBob! Great Forum |

| I've had no problems with MS security Essentials with my 3 Windows 7 installs. I just recently dumped Mcafee for Security Essentials and have been pleased with it. Especially since I have 10 months left on my six Mcafee licenses. I have no plans on going back to Mcafee. MS Security Essentials has been that good. |

| reply to amark can you review errors in eventviewer logs and or generate System Health Report as there might some underlying issue causing the problems »www.windows7hacker.com/index.php···feature/

| reply to amark This sounds similar to what has been going on with my computer. I removed AVG thinking it was the reason computer was hanging on restart or shutdown . Only way to reboot was push the power button til it shutdown the system and then power back up. Boots back up and no error message that Windows was improperly shutdown. I'm just hoping that Microsoft will have a fix for this. I've done research and it seems as if this was going on during the beta testing down the line.
By the way; I've done all the suggested things such as clean boot, etc. In safe mode everything shuts down and restarts as it should. -- Sprint DSL |

| reply to amark i had the same issue. you cant have 2 antivirus installed even if one of them is disabled. they change very important files. you say u uninstall zone alarm, can u uninstall security essentials too? if you cant then try this: delete the files mpfilter.sys and mpnwmon.sys from windows/system32/drivers folder. if you do that then your pc should start. after that install again zone alarm and uninstall it and do the same for security essentials in order to remove any remaining files that could cause a problem in the end install only one of them |

| reply to amark I've been having odd issues also that seemingly started around the time I uninstalled Forefront and installed MSE. I haven't swapped it out to check yet, as I've been swamped with other things. -- trafficcloak.com - pptp/sstp vpn services |
