| reply to VikingBob Looks like Opera snuck in a fast one. Down in the corner of the upgrade screen is a checkbox (checked of course) to automatically update from now on. Haven't seen that one before, and aborted one install so I could uncheck the box. At least, they give you the choice. CS |

I wonder if that'll fix my current issue where the newest Spybot update leaves me at "immunization incomplete" with 3 Opera cookie entries un-immunized. |

1 edit | reply to carpetshark3 Carpetshark, where? I uninstalled, fell back to version 10.0, and reupgraded, trying to turn up that box.
Automatic upgrades are useless at best if you're running the browser in a sandbox.
Edit: Sorry, never mind, I was using the full installation file to upgrade; that must have made the difference. |

| reply to VikingBob Glad you did see that. I've always upgraded by checking for them via the help menu. I just had never seen that update box checked before. However, I dl and transferred the file to another computer and did not see the box for automatic updates. I don't update stuff until I read this forum first. CS |

| reply to VikingBob Finally, thanks.
I have found that the security issues seem to take a little time before we see them fixed. However 9.64 is where I'm evaluating that comment from, it took quite some time to fix it's flaws.
Seems to be running okay too. -- The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing - Edmund Burke |

| reply to VikingBob Update..
Opera 10.01 is still working fine, and I just ran an update/immunize on Spybot 1.6.2 (build: 20090126) and it left no leftover this time.
I'm assuming it was a SpyBot issue, not an Opera one. Either way, all is well. --

| reply to VikingBob Thanks for the post. Using 10.01 and learning how it is loaded. Now looking for the best app to block flashers and large block ads. Usually spend time in other forums in this website but this one looks like it is added to my favs. Any ideas for the app? Thanks. |

| One tip I found....if you're like me and prefer the browser starting with a black page try this:
In Preferences, General tab....select Speed Dial for starting. Then, when when it starts, in the lower right click "hide speed dial"
Viola! a blank page.
With all tabs closed it'll revert to that status as well. --

You can also set Opera to "Start with home page". Set your home page address to "about:blank" without the quotes. Same effect. -- Reality corrupted. Reboot universe? (Y/N) |
