Re: Does anyone still post Fry's ad online?

Good question. Look for my Fridays post (as eshawn) in the link given above by whymeintrouble. Used to post here years ago but was not sure if people where still interested. Haven't visited Fry's in almost 2 years. If there is a good deal, I usually order online to save on time and gas money, it's a 52 mile round trip for me.

The link to your posts in the other forum has been under "External Links" (upper left on the main topic listing) on this board for a couple years now. I definitely appreciate your efforts; I'm sure it takes a lot of time. As long as we have the link here, I don't think you need to go to all the work of posting them in two places.

Thanks!

In their ads, When looking at the LCD TVs, I always see one with a great price that says "MAJOR NAME BRAND" but doesn't list the brand.

What does that mean, exactly? Are they refurbed Sonys or Sharps or something? Or are they new but maybe not as "Major" a name brand as they claim?

due to terms with the manufacturers it is possible they can't list the manufacturer if it is under a certain price criteria. think of it as a new twist on minimum advertised pricing.

Yeah I've heard of those rules in the past. Just wondering what their definition of "Major Name Brand" is. Do they consider Hyundai and Apex Major or are they talking Panasonic or Sharp. I'd be willing to bet it's probably not an aquos or something though.

Maybe I'll take a ride over there and see.

You should take the ad with you and see whether the picture matches up with the actual brand that they are advertising as "Major Name Brand".

It's easy to identify the brand of TV that they are supposedly trying to keep anonymous. I think they do it on purpose to let people know what brands they are without actually mentioning the brand. But, I've never verified it.

Major Brand
Here's an example, Fridays November 6th ad on page 8, sku# 5929574 says "MAJOR NAME BRAND". Going to Frys.com shows it's a Panasonic TC-P46U1.

Amazon.com for a review & more pictures.

Not sure what their criteria for "MAJOR NAME BRAND" is.

I remember when Best Buy first started carrying Plasma TVs. it was a 50" Pioneer, very nice picture... of course it retailed for over $13k.
I remember that. I also seem yo remember people had a lot of problems with them dying after just a year or two. My mom worked with a bunch of people that spent 6 or 8k on them and they were all crapping out lol!

I always try and wait a while before I jump into any new tech. Let everyone else find the bugs.
I think the latest Plasmas are 10th generation. Maybe it's time to jump . . .

LOL! Yeah I know. The only reason I haven't is I have been waiting to do my basement remodel. Gonna do it all at once some day. If things will quit breaking for a little while and using my remodle money.

I'm just teasing. My parents are finally breaking down and picking up a 40" or 42" Panasonic or Samsung plasma this season. They're waiting until prices come down even further. It's not like time causes pricing to go up on these things.
