 | Becoming/has been unaffordable Typical bs that makes people tone down any packages they have or go OTA if they can.
What makes them think people can continue to afford stuff like cable TV and VOIP in this recession? No different than politicians and Bernie Madoffs of the world. |

 | You have a good point about the economy. The Madoff analogy is probably a little strange.
In any case, I guess Cablevision would reply that cable TV is not a right, and we don't have to keep it if we don't feel like paying, and that they are passing their increased programming costs along to the end user. Blah Blah Blah. |

 | I can watch about everything on cable on the net now. Why would I want cable tv? I dont. Prices have been high for years. As long as I got my foxnews and espn. And both are available on the net for free. I will stick to streaming and downloading everything. |

The reason they raise prices is because they know people will pay it. TV is a drug, and the cable companies have everyone addicted.
I'd love to see a "Cancel your TV service" national day where everyone calls in and cancels their TV service. Cable companies across the country would shit bricks. -- CheckSite.us | YourIP.us | Reverseip.us |

| reply to kickass69 VoIP is cheaper than landline service as a rule. Also cheaper than cellular service if you talk a lot.
That said, I'm cell-only and it's working fine. Paying $55/month for internet though. Will be ~$78 in a few months, but I'll probably keep paying. The worst that will happen is that I'll downgrade to 12/2 service and spend $55 instead of $78... |

 | reply to Rob when the rates go up its because the fee for the cable company has gone up. its just when the cable company ups the rate they make sure they include a rate hike for themselfs too. |

I doubt they were referring to legal sources. Its much easier and quicker to just use download sites with free rapidshare, megaupload, ect...links. |
