edit - freecell is now an option from AisleRiot, under 'Game', 'Select Game'. instead of its own entry in the Games list, so that issue is moot. |

My son jumped into upgrading his box last night thinking it would take awhile he started at 10pm and started a movie.
The download only took 27 minutes and I believe the install and removal of outdated apps took about 30 or so minutes. I was amazed at how quickly it moved along. \
When he went to do the system reboot it just hung there displaying a black screen. He was a little worried and simply unplugged it and then tried again. Booted fine. Works great.

You're suggestion led me to trying to install Ubuntu yet again.. this time, with success!
In the first menu I hit "F4" to display options and chose Safe Graphics Mode... With that selected I was able to jump right in and install it alongside Windows 7 with no problems! Thanks for the help everyone... I'll be back...

1 edit | Did and update today to 9.10 and now I cannot access my server via VNC. Just get a black screen. Well, it did take a few days for my first problem to surface.
Never mind - server puked, had to do a cold reboot.

Cool! Update manager said I had 38 updates, so I installed them & now it's working fine! (Well for some reason Frozen Bubble doesn't work right, but it's only a game & I already went thru all 100 levels so no biggie!)

| Well I did a clean install of 9.10. So far the only thing I noticed is it has the same problem as 9.04.
If I installed the nvidia driver it recommends, then go to System/prefs/display I get the graphics driver does not support necessary extensions and do I want to use graphics drivers tool.
When I use it, I can change screenmode, but if I want to go from 24 bit to 16 bit color to see if something will run on it, it won't apply the settings. If I just change the size and it will apply, but lowering the color depth says it can't apply all settings.
I did reboot after installing the nvidia drivers.
