well... i guess i dumped my cable tv at the right time and locked in a year with no rate increase with directv. it's pretty good that the cable modem prices aren't going up but it stinks all around. i for one will just keep paying them since there really isn't any other alternative.

a other thing that direct tv has is any box is just $5/m box one free so you can have 4 HD dvr and pay $15/m on top you base rate vs $60-$80 on cable.

reply to obeythelaw yah you keep thinking that with DirecTV you're rates are next. contract or not. those don't mean shit anymore.

reply to hottboiinnc my rate can't go up for 1 year because of the contract lock in. after the one year, i'll threaten to jump ship to another provider. fios may even be available at that time and i'll jump on whatever promotions they are having. with that said, for me, directv's picture quality and hardware is way better than cablevision. so even if i had to pay a few bucks more i wouldn't be as angry knowing what i was paying cablevision.

reply to obeythelaw We're thinking of jumping from Time Warner Cable to DirecTV. If we canceled Time Warner Cable, we'd save around $75 a month. Signing up for DirectTV would cost us about $46 a month for the first year. We'd save about $360 in the first year! That would be enough to pay for a Netflix subscription and have money left over. -- -Jason Levine Support a children's charity. Buy a calendar and/or a photo book. Shooting For A Cause
