 | Not available to me Can't get Fios at our $600k townhouses. Must be that cherry-picking. |

 | reply to Bobcat That price means nothing. a 600k townhouse could be cheap compaired to a 3 million dollar mansion.
The fact that you live in a townhome is why you dont have it. I live in a two floor appartment and verizon wont give me fios either. nevermind the fact that my wall is an exterior one that is 20 feet from a fios fiber junction box. |

 | reply to fifty nine Embarq is now CenturyTel.
From the looks of it, VZ is looking to get out of the copper business »Frontier Shareholders Approve Verizon Deal |

Can't get it here either Can't get FIOS here.
Wish there were a viable competitor to cable internet. Comcast has provided excellent service but it expensive.
Verizon DSL is a disaster in my neighborhood -- it is clear that the telco has made a conscience decision to let copper rot here. Blown off appointments -- 7 day wait for a tech to fix a POTS outage -- y'all know the routine. |
|
 | No, I don't know the routine. My DSL has been up continuously for over 5 years. |
|
 | I live in a neighborhood that was built in the 1920s. The techs absolutely HATE to come out here because the wirining to the homes is old (paid for by the taxpayer, BTW) and there are lots of big ol' trees. There is no commitment by the telco to maintain the copper.
The first thing I have to do is insist that any problem is not in my house and is exhibbited at the NIB. Wiring inside my home is new and electrically solid.
When you schedule an appointment with Verizon, you get to select the day they will come (8 hour window), and yes you need to be home, and they don't come on weekends. I've experienced two no-shows on this, BTW, taking days off of work. Absolutely TERRIBLE customer service in my area. I understand that in other areas it is a different storry.
I have no big love for Comcast because they charge through the nose, but the last time there was an issue, a tech was dispatched on a Sunday morning with a two hour window.
So, it would be nice to have a competitor for: expensive cable cruddy DSL |

I never said that VZ should get into the copper business, but get into the fiber business here. We are the fastest growing county in the state. |

To boot the 300,000 dollar one will probably order more services. |

It had to do with street boundaries. |

 | reply to fifty nine VZ only puts FiOS in where they are the LEC.
CT is the LEC where you are so VZ would have to buy the copper to put in the fiber. |

Re: Not available to me Go figure, some horrible neighborhoods here in SoCal like Lake Smellsmore have it. Beaumont, CA a town you don't drive through with the windows down was one of the first around here to get FiOS TV too.
No cherry picking in this neck of the woods. |

Re: Can't get it here either I've had a pretty good experience with service for Verizon DSL, I got a next day visit after I put in a call. Besides that one time, it's been very stable.
On topic, everyone I know who has FIOS available, has signed up for it. Actually I'm starting to feel a little jealous ;p |

Re: Not available to me Sounds like you're on the ass end of the CO that doesn't have Fios, and the one across the street does have it.
