Download DrTcp

Set Tcp Receive Window to 19396

Set Windows Scaling, Time Stamping, Selective Acks, Path MTU Discovery, Black Hole Detection to Default.

Leave Max Duplicate Acks and TTL Blank

Using the drop-down menu in The Doctor set your NIC’s (Ethernet adapter’s) MTU to 1492.

Save/Exit DrTcp

Reboot

Rerun the Tweak Test

Run Two Speed Tests from the two DIFFERENT cities nearest to you that are listed here: Speakeasy POPs

Also, test here »ftp://ftp1.optonline.net/test512

Note your transfer rate after about 30 seconds. Then cancel the download.

Post the URL for the New Tweak Test. For the TWO Speakeasy Tests, Copy and Paste the speed results from those tests and note the speed from the FTP download test.

Your MODEM has a router built into it. Check the router to see if it is blocking pings.

Use »192.168.1.1 to get you into your MODEM/Router.

Check the logs and post what you find for your line stats and your signal.

We have no recommendations for 64k lines
download/use DRTCP .. (FAQ #578)
Read the tweak FAQ

Observations:
Good data stream (no/few rexmits)

Observations:
Become pingable
if you need basic packet loss tests done

Speakeasy test 1 from Chicago
Download Speed: 1287 kbps (160.9 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 329 kbps (41.1 KB/sec transfer rate)

Speakeasy test 2 from Atlanta
Download Speed: 1314 kbps (164.3 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 328 kbps (41 KB/sec transfer rate)

I tried two times to run »»ftp://ftp1.optonline.net/test512 but get this error;
C:\Documents and Settings\mom\Desktop\downloaded junk\test512.part could not be saved, because the source file could not be read.

Try again later, or contact the server administrator.

I tried to access my modem/router using »»ftp://ftp1.optonline.net/test512 but failed.

Thanks for the time and help.
Happy Halloween! Go Pack go!

That's OK; I was just getting ahead in case we need the MODEM/router stuff.

There is nothing left in that line, so ....

That’s about as good as it gets. It isn’t going to get much better than that. Put a fork in it you’re done.
