| Question Regarding Fiber Optics Line to House
I guess I consider myself lucky that an army of workers are installing the MAIN FIOS lines and boxes in our neighborhood RIGHT NOW AS I WRITE THIS. HOORAY!!!
I spoke to the Supervisor, and he told me that they will not dig around my house but instead will go around the back of a house behind towards a main road AWAY from my home. He indicated that there will be further splicing within 30 days to each home.
My question is, how would they get around the problem of all the homes have backyard fencing, which would make the installation to the INDIVIDUAL homes near me that much more difficult? If the install has to cross a neighbor's property who does not want FIOS, do I need his permission?
Now there will be a box and main header right across from my house (not more than 50 ft) but that would require crossing the neighborhood road. Do you think we can just tap off of that? |

| I can't quite visualize the layout you're describing but in almost all cases, Vz has some sort of right-of-way / easement (on each piece of private property) where they are allowed work/install lines (be it copper or fiber or whatever). I would assume that's what they will make use of in any case. |

| Not sure how they'll do it, but there are vibrating tunnelers in use in some locations, as opposed to the ditch witch method. And there's the slice and bury method as well, although it's subject to obstructions such as fences, etc.
My neighborhood is primitive. We have everything hanging from poles. |

| reply to darcilicious I spoke to the contractor supervisor as well as the Verizon supervisor overlooking the install, and they said that they have easements and did not see any problem with going thru my neighbors' properties.
They even had me sign up under some pre-construction sign up program.
Thanks for your responses. |
