| XR-9 Thruput not so good what do you think
Okay this setup is showing a client assocaited to an AP about 1 mile away.
We have some other AP's with all them turned off to eliminate any interference from ourselves this is what we get.
Speed fluctuates a lot and CCQ jumps all over the place. I am thinking noise?
When last up there doing some phone work I noticed a box from I think USGS or something like that that said on the box Earthquake monitoring system do not disconnect. It had Heliax type coax going to it and not sure where on the roof it led to. The box is an RF unit with another unit attached in it that had a phone line connected to it.
My guess an RF unit (AP??) that mointors other remote units out in the bush somewhere and by phone it calls somewhere to transmit earthquake Data.
I did have a part # at one time but lost it since. The company was kind of useless but did say they had 2.4Ghz and 900 Mhz models. My guess is its 900 since we have always had this issue.
I have been tempted to power it down but did not want to get in any trouble.

1 edit | reply to viperm We have tried everything right now its on 5 mhz channels and it stinks!
I think next time I am up there I am going to unplug that gadget to see what happens or see where the coax runs to. I am guessing it may no longer be working and is just sitting there spewing out noise.. |

Today one mile out pulled 9 megabit TCP, no fancy settings, 10mhz. signals same as yours. We have a way worse noise floor too.
We did have crappy performance with panels tho, what you using? |

| reply to viperm 12 DB rootenna's with the enclosure on them with an RB-433 ah in each CPE on each building. Then in the same Rootenna an sr-2 with an omni.
All the Rontennas (6 total) point to the main 900 Mhz ap for backhaul so we can do hotspot access from the 2.4 radio / omni within the park filled with trees etc. -- ComTrain Certified Tower Climber. American Tower Certified approved contractor. Wireless consultants. |

Also, try locking down the data rates on both ends of the link, AP and CPE, and it will function with even lower signal levels. |

Panels just did not perform at all in 900mhz for us. |

| reply to viperm I have some spare 900 11 DB and 12 DB yagis I think I will try. I will have to put in another pigtail and use antenna B I guess and see what the difference is..
This was our first project using the XR-9 units in fact anything Mikrotik at all.
We then did an xr-9 at a tower and have had decent results but the spectrum is slammed. In fact Sprint came to me the other day and complained we were creating noise in thier 900 freq???? I told them we dont operate in thier 900 we were license free.
He told me they did a spectrum and came right to our tower site and described our Pac wireless 900 H pol. I said HMMMM let me check. Sure enough one of the other techs changed the channel to one that is not within the spec of the radio
Chan 2422 I just moved it up one and problem appears to be solved? I have not heard back from the guy since so I assume maybe we were bleeding into the upper freq of thier spectrum? -- ComTrain Certified Tower Climber. American Tower Certified approved contractor. Wireless consultants. |

The XR9 is only permitted to be used on channels 4 thru 7 after the 2.4 conversion in Mikrotik.
If you are still on chan 2422 you are out of the unlicensed space. |

| reply to viperm Well yes I know that but one of th techs must have thought for some reason it was the 2.4 radio in the same RB 433 AH so I switch it back to where it should have benn -- ComTrain Certified Tower Climber. American Tower Certified approved contractor. Wireless consultants. |
