DIR-655 WAN Upload capped at 256kbps

I have cable modem with 5mbps down and 1 mbps upload service.

When I plug PC directly to modem, I get this speed.

When I connect via DIR-655, download is stil 5mbps but upload is capped at 256 kbps.

A second PC on different LAN connection to the router has same problem. However, PC-PC transfers are the gigabyte speed (no upload cap LAN to LAN).

This tells me the WAN is capped but I have no idea why this would be the case.

I am on FW1.11

Thoughts? Help!

Make sure "Enable SPI" is off, I read once that limits the router's own rwin which may be keeping your speed down.

SPI was off.

But I was STUPD STUPID STUPID

I used to have 3mbps/256kbps service (Did I mention how much I love charter) so QOS was set to 256.

I am surprised that QOS thottles when only one PC is connected but is seems this setting is a hard cap regardless of what you have or are using. This setting caps you at the number regardless.

So when I changed to 1200kbps, everything works. I did not want to put 1000 because it "sensed" 1120 but if I put it too high, QOS will not do anything.

STUPID me and STUPID QOS.

As an aside, I bought the stupid DIR-655 because I needed QOS for VOIP since I only had 256 available.

I guess I should be glad charter has finally upgraded to a decent upload speed (are they out of bankrupcy yet??).

if 1120 is what you get then enter 1120, entering 1200 won't allow it to do its job. Might as well turn it off
