beck posted : To shade the modem, tape a double thick sheet of paper to the window. If you have an external antenna, then it shouldn't matter where the modem sits. But experiment.
--
Some people are like slinkies - not really good for much.
But they bring a smile to your face when pushed down the stairs.

tate886 posted : Hi again folks,

Still on the quest to add just a smidge more stability to my signal. I was wondering if a modem getting too hot can affect performance at all? My UM175 sits in a window and this window tends to get a lot of sun during the day. the modem can get quite warm during these times.

If this is the case, what would be the best way to shield the modem from as much heat as possible, and still keep it in the window for best signal reception?

Also, if you have an external antenna connected to the modem, even if it is a cheap one, does the modem being in the Ewindow matter much at all?

Thanks.
~Ann
