said by Anav :THe new diesels have pep and are OH SO quiet. Rather amazing. The new golf wagon seems very nice. There is a new smaller SUV (than the toureg) that looks promising when it gets TDId. agreed...after driving one when my parents went looking for a new car, i was just as impressed as they were. -- Today's motto: Dearly beloved, We are gathered here today to bid farewell to personal responsibility and accountability. |

| According to the Lemon Aid bloke VWs (and other German cars) are very expensive to maintain when they get around 5 years of age. AND they do not interface well with the standard ODBII diagnostic equipment which does for most manufacturers...
No first hand experience just what Phil Edmunston has said a few times on the radio when someone asks about VWs.... |

| My friend is a mechanic and he says VWs are nice cars to drive but expensive pains to fix. He highly recommends Hondas and Toyotas or any North American car before a European model. I still like the VWs and will consider buying one when I buy my next car in about 5 years. |

I would suggest read up in Lemon Aid before buying.... |

| said by vue666 :Once out of warranty I prefer to wrench on it myself unless it's something that is too involved.... bah...those days are done for me...not only that, even most of the "domestic" brands are all computer controlled and a PITA to work on now...it isn't like the cars from the 70's where a socket set, a pair of pliers and some elbow grease was all that was needed to fix almost anything on the car...today's cars are all about fancy electronics, 30,000 PSI high pressure fuel lines (on ones that are Direct Injected) and tight quarters to work on. -- Today's motto: Dearly beloved, We are gathered here today to bid farewell to personal responsibility and accountability. |

It can't be 1970 forever. i know what they are there for...my point is, your everyday "handy guy" can't work on a lot of today's vehicles, especially hybrids and direct injection models...the last thing you want to do is electrocute yourself with 400 volts from a hybrid battery or cut your arm off with fuel spray that is under 30,000 PSI of pressure. -- Today's motto: Dearly beloved, We are gathered here today to bid farewell to personal responsibility and accountability. |

| reply to dirtyjeffer I'm surprised that the Taurus won in their category and the Fusion didn't in theirs.
Though I suspect that the 365hp EcoBoost option in the Taurus did a lot to sway the judges (The Taurus SHO has an insane amount of performance for the price)
