1st Open IE and use the Tools -> Internet Options and clear all your cookies, temp files, and history. Then try to use IE. If it works then you should be OK. If not, go to step 2.
2nd - go to Start -> Run and type in CMD to open a CMD shell. At the prompt type IPCONFIG / all. You should get a listing of all of your network connections with numbers listed like xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx. If you want paste this into a reply to the group but change the numbers to xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx before posting for security reasons.
3rd - in the list you will see the DNS Servers address. At the prompt type PING {dnsserver_address} -- where this is the number you see listed in the IPCONFIG report. If you are able to ping the DNS server then you are in fact connected. If not, then you have something else broken and probably not just the IE Web browser. What browser are you using? If you are having problems with Internet explorer, I would recommend trying to downloading / installing either Firefox or Chrome.

How about some more info from you - what modem are you using? Are you using a router - if so what model? Any other info would be good too.
