I agree, the vibrate is very strong on the Droid, but it isn't a long vibrate. My old LG vibrate was quite a bit longer than the Droid. I too have missed calls at times when in vibrate mode. Seriously? My Droid will wake me up it vibrates so hard. It's definitely the hardest vibrate of any phone I've ever owned. You may have a defective phone, I'd take it into the Verizon store and compare.

FYI, I'm sitting at the airport, laptop tethered to my Droid, streaming Slacker radio, and even bought a few songs from the Droid's Amazon MP3 app, all without interrupting anything else I was doing. This is sweet!

My understanding is they are going back and adding data plans to any smart phone that doesn't have one, so you may want to watch your bill closely.

I bought my unlocked smartphone from Dell they sell accidental coverage protection. Also if you buy it from your carrier you can get their insurance.

But if you buy it from your carrier they still know what phone you have. If you want a data plan they will assign you a plan that has been optimized for your device still overcharge you.
They know what type of phone it is (at least in the CDMA world) by the ESN or IEMI. I gave a buddy a Q9c and Verizon refused to activate it without him adding a data plan. I told him he probably had a smart rep or let slip that he had a smart phone, so he called back in 2 or 3 times and all the reps said the same thing, it was a smart phone and he had to add a data plan.

You can get by without a data plan if you pay full price for the phone. I have a Palm Treo without a data plan because I bought the phone outright. I've talked to Verizon recently and they confirmed that you can do without.
I still have internet, just not the high speed.

Everyone was crowded around the Droid Eris (a pretty good phone too) and the Droid. They had 4 Droids out and 3 Droid Eris' out and people were still waiting to play with them.

I finally got a chance and man, it is a bad ass phone. Fast, responsive touch screen, YouTube worked directly from the browser, it looks a lot more "industrial" as my GF put it, but I like that. And did I mention it was FAST? I haven't played with a 3GS but there is simply no comparison between my 3G and the Droid. You flip the device and the screen instantly flips. Slide the screen to reveal the keyboard and bam, the screen flips. Animations and transitions are instantaneous. The only gripe I could find was scrolling a full webpage quickly is still jerky like most other mobile phones.

I even performed a simple webpage load test (dslreports.com) and the Droid handily beat my 3G ... both over 3G with full bars.

The only thing I couldn't play with was the email (Exchange) side of the house. Has anyone been able to find a review of the Droid running Exchange email?
