| VOXOX with ATA
I am surprised that the ATA worked with them. X-Lite had no sound either way. A different post on DSL Reports showed their Codec to be G723, and X-lite did not have that Codec. With the parameters of User ID: 1xxxxxxxxxx (Voxox number including the 1), and the password that turns on the application, and of course setting the preferred codec to G723, it worked. To keep the ATA working, I sign into the application as invisible. I only sign in to change the outgoing CID for fun. This is the only application (that I know of) without a monthly fee, and only One cent per minute* that lets you SPOOF your caller ID at will, even to a number that you don't have. *If you pay $2.45 per month, minutes are virtually unlimited. I have paid for lines (Magic Jack and Future Nine, and of course my DSL) but I like to occasionally play around with "free" services. Their website indicates that you can have as many free numbers as yow want in your account (probably California numbers) but I haven't been able to find the application to add additional incoming numbers. If someone else knows how to get additional numbers within the same account, please post it. I will test the voice quality with my friends. If it is decent, I will pay $2.45 monthly for unlimited minutes. Sure beats paying $100.00 up front for TK6000 or $230.00 up front for Ooma |

| reply to Solearth As long as the Voxox application is not running (or in invisible mode) my ATA works. I did change the registration interval and proxy interval from 3600 to 300. If I understand the settings, it should re-register every 5 minutes instead of every hour. The ATA I am using is a Linksys SPA 2102.
A similar problem happens with other VOIP providers if 2 SIP units (or programs) are trying to access the same address. It seems that the one most currently registered will get the call. I do not know the interval of the Voxox application registration interval.
Another thing that allowed incoming to work with the "Personal Assistant" is to have no other numbers in the Follow Me box. Somehow, if I had other numbers there, and the call was forwarded from a Google Voice number, the caller would hear one ring then silence. However, "follow me" seemed to work from GV without the Personal Assistant.
Although the site claims that ALL incoming communications are free, incoming minutes seem to be deducted from the balance with pay as you go. |

| My magic incantation for making incoming VOXOX calls work with my trusty PAP2V1 is to disable all VOXOX options--Personal Assistant, Call Screening, and Present Incoming Call Options. Otherwise, my incoming calls get shuffled off to VOXOX voicemail. Also, I've never gotten their voicemail email notification to work.
Let me add that I've had heartburn with VOXOX ever since they removed their Internet WWW phone management interface, replacing it with a PeeCee program. 'PeeCees? We ain't got no PeeCees. We don't need no PeeCees! I don't have to show you any stinkin' PeeCees!'
And, while I'm not licensed to prescribe for heartburn (as is n9md), my successful home remedy has been to reduce my daily VOXOX intake, replacing it with SipGate-ness... |

| reply to Solearth Zombie, I don't know your settings, and yours may already match the ones listed above. Double check the proxy (not the outgoing proxy since you can call out). reboot the ATA after quitting the Voxox application. Turning off the assistant (before quitting application LOL) would not hurt, unless you wanted faxes on that number.
I agree that out VOIP boxes are little more than toys, even when they work properly. But that is why we "play" with the companies, instead of purchasing "full service" retail price lines. I currently play with Magic jack, Voxox, Google Voice, Future Nine, and soon Net Talk. Do I need all these lines? No, the services, and trying to figure out how our boxes interact with theirs, is a hobby. |

| said by kustomjs :well whats the settings for the voxox for asterisk? AFAIK, if you had an Asterisk PBX system running with some SIP accounts, then configuring your Asterisk PBX system to register your voxox account is the same as the other SIP accounts. |

| reply to Solearth I did a test call today, and I heard a computer voice say that my password was invalid, but when I disabled the ATA and activated the application using the same password, it still showed a positive balance. I do not know if they are deliberately trying to keep ATA devices from working, or if it is a fluke. After work, I will play around with it a little while to find out. |

| reply to Solearth I just received a response from the "help desk". They do support the SPA2102 ATA (but no others), and will forward the settings to me. I will post the confirmed settings once I receive them. They are also checking into the problem of deducting incoming calls from the balance. They have acknowledged that it should not have happened. |
