I know the frustration though, I play CS and DOD at a seattle server and they once sent traffic from vancouver all the way to toronto then it made its way back to seattle. It has been like this for 7 months now. The crazy thing is, when I first got the connection in March/April of this year, it routed properly, and I had a consistent ping of 49ms, which was heaven. When the routing changed, I tried to get it resolved, but the help just hits a dead end, with "routing is based on fastest available route...", yeah yeah, I'll give the help desk staff the benefit of the doubt that they don't know any different, but it still sucks.<br><br><div class="bquote">Not true, I ping about 65 to a Battlefield server in NY for the last 4 years that I have been playing there. If it went to Vancouver first from Edmonton then back east I sure in the hell wouldnt be getting a ping like that.</div>It would be good to see your tracert too, the more info the better. They roughly do the same thing, route through vancouver (at least from my house). But their base ping is a little worse, about 85ms, plus yes it suffers from 'neighborhood traffic', so the ping can easily spike.<br><br><div class="bquote">Uh no, most of Telus' traffic goes Winnipeg > Chicago</div>If only that were so! <description><![CDATA[anon posted : For gaming you need a fast ping, not download speed. Telus always hands off their alberta traffic through vancouver. So if your gaming server is east, it effectively doubles your ping. Useless. Just FYI.]]></description>
