I just watched it and I think it has promise as a 2 to 3 year series...we'll see what happens. |

| reply to TigerLord I thought the premier was pretty good. I liked the opening sequence with the ships hovering over NYC (and other major cities) and Anna broadcasting her message. And the FBI and Church stuff was well done, without being too distracting.
While I would have preferred a slower pace when it comes to revealing the Visitor's true form and the idea of the Resistance, I don't think it would have happened. Most Sci-Fi fans already know that they are lizards, and that a Resistance will form, so it doesn't help the plot to beat around the bush about it. And I think most of the network people have some form of ADD that makes them inclined to insist on more action in a premier episode.
Even though I know the the basic plot, I'll keep watching to see how they can tweak it. -- "Every normal man must be tempted at times to spit on his hands, hoist the black flag, and begin to slit throats." - H. L. Mencken

FYI in case anyone else missed it. |

| reply to lotusracer said by lotusracer :If you remember, the reveal came pretty early in the mini-series as well.... Yeah, but that was a four hour mini-series. Even then you didn't get the big reveals until after the first hour. The original did a better job of establishing pace and story development with the time they had. This new V kinda let the cat out of the bag without giving us a real drive to even want to know this stuff. No buildup whasoever. This is supposed to be a series. They could have dragged out the lizard and evil alien surprise up until the fourth episode. That would then establish a nice cliff-hanger to get people watching after hiatus.
I'll still watch it, and I am hopeful the quick shoe dropping will mean better surprises later on. However I can't help but be a little disappointed by the treatment of the story so far. |

| Well I dont remember the original that well since I was so young at the time but my sister told me that the Visitors eat human flesh . Therefore if that is the case they can use that as a cliffhanger.
Assuming they dont come up with something new in addition to what was in the original mini. |

| reply to TigerLord Apparently over 18 million people watched the premiere. That's quite a lot, considering House gets 9 mil at best of times, and shows like 24, Lost, Grey's Anatomy & the other big ones can get up to 10. American Idol gets over 22mil for comparison's sake.
I highly doubt this will remain so high though. With the hiatus of many months and the decrease of the hype over time it'll probably fall to half that, perhaps less. |

| Well I didnt honestly expect to see some of the same things from the first episode that made it exciting such as a CGI plane crash, the arrival of the visitors or the big reveal.
The introduction of the notion that no one really knows who to trust is interesting IMO. Cloned skin makes you think that potentially anyone could go missing and come back a v-wolf in sheeps clothing.
Although, if they can clone human skin one would think that they would be able to clone entire humans thus allowing the Visitors a cloned food supply but I guess its best not to over think it,

Christina Hendricks was a far better actress on Firefly then Morena. well, old BSG was REALLY old, while V was on a decade ago. still, you do have a point V was on in the 80s. | reply to SRFireside I could sure see that they may have other motives for visiting earth. However, I believe that they used the word cloning or possibly cloned specifically and I dont see why they would use it in any way other then what people typically think of it. If not, why not specify with greater detail?
I think it more plausible that the cloning process is too arduous or time consuming to serve as an efficient means to farm Human flesh (to meet the Visitors dietary needs,
