Dlink DI 604 cable router problem?

Hello,

I have a Dlink DI 604 cable router, and have had two XP computers hooked up to it just fine for two years. Now one computer will not log onto the internet. The tray icon indicates low or no connection. I ran a line test, and the cable is fine. Maybe it's a hardware issue?
The problem computer is a 2006 Compaq (unsure of model right now), and everything was great until now.
Since I am considering this a hardware issue (computer has integrated ethernet card with motherboard), and have tried line signal test (just fine), and repair (to no avail, IP addy cannot be assigned), Maybe it's time to look into a new computer unless anyone has help for me. I've tried just about everything I can think of such as resetting the modem and router, what do I do? I also tried the repair function. It didn't work, nor did reinstalling the driver.

Thanks for any help!

Is it only one computer you're having problems with?

Try resetting the TCP/IP protocol on that computer.

I tried that. In fact, I checked every port on the router with the cat6 cable that runs to the computer in question, and had it hooked up to the working computer. I had no problem.
Repair just tells me that it cannot assign an IP address.
I've run just about every diagnostic under the sun, and even tried to reload the driver for the modem. Nothing.
To me, this looks like a hardware issue. Unfortunately, the modem "card" is integrated with the motherboard.
Any other suggestions I sure would appreciate at this point. Thanks everyone!

Try a PCI NIC or try a new router.
