<description><![CDATA[anon posted : version 2.0 is the fastest lane right now. Twice the bandwidth of version 1.0. <br><br>x16 or 16 lane cards are typical for graphics cards. If you have concerns when you are ready to buy we can look at the specific motherboard product you are considering.<br><br>If you are waiting for motherboards with usb 3 and 6 G/bit sata then it isn't likely you are going to need to worry about this. The boards will have the latest spec pci-express slots. ]]></description>

Is running on a 4 lane highway a hindrance relative to an 8 lane highway? Only if there are so many cars that the highway becomes a bottleneck. If you are the only car on the highway it doesn't matter whether there are 4 lanes or 100 lanes. <br><br>So you might ask why add more lanes or higher bandwidth lanes?  So the capacity is there when newer generation graphics cards need it.  At the present time the pci-express version doesn't matter because the v 1.0 bus is capable of handling the traffic. ]]></description>

<description><![CDATA[trparky posted : So I'm looking at video cards now and noticed that Newegg doesn't have many of video cards that are PCI Express 16x but they have way more in the PCI Express 16x 2.0 category.<br><br>So what is PCI Express 16x 2.0?  What is the difference between that and the old PCI Express 16x standard?  What about all of us poor SOBs that have motherboards that only have PCI Express 16x slots?  What do we do?<br><br>God, I can't believe how fast this stuff changes.
