| Automated new hire orientatin idea....
Whenever we get new hires, we tend to run trough quite a bit of information in a short period of time. VPN access guide, OWA access, Citrix, Logging into the domain, QPM, Wireless and Vendor Wireless access etc....My suggestion was a website with videos categorized by the actions/apps. Just wondering if anyone has a more efficient way of doing this or if I'm on the right path. In October we managed to bring 60 new users and still have build-outs going on so this wont stop anytime soon. Just trying to eliminate trivial calls\tech visits. |

| Don't you have this stuff written down anywhere?
When these people ask for assistance, politely remind them to read the instructional documents that you provided with the crash course in the company's IT set up.
I think videos are a bit overkill for anything less complex than a specialized application that your company is likely the only one using or it's a very complex process. -- Come play Mafia! | My Picture Blog |

| Are you stuck by management decree or are you taking this upon yourself as the solution?
I can't imagine your IT director encouraging you to spend more time creating documentation (either verbal or written or video) that the users won't read. -- Come play Mafia! | My Picture Blog |

| reply to moddestmike Your best bet would probably be an open source WIKI or knowledgebase web app and put the videos into the "articles", so all you have to focus on is doing the videos. I wouldn't waste too much time on making the site look pretty since it sounds like your users probably aren't going to use it. -- Kilroy was here |
