Let Suddenlink decide what's a legitimate complaint/suggestion.

And don't think just because we are in Eastern NC that we will never get some "new tech". Most cable/phone companies test out their new technologies in smaller markets.

And we (the customers) should ALWAYS tell Suddenlink how we feel. If not, they will drone on and won't care.

And gatorkam should get a Linksys RV042 and connect his DSL and Suddenlink and get the benefit of both. :-)

You have to understand where you're at on the totem poll. Not very high.

As far as getting "value" that's always relative to location. Sure, you can get a 1.5mb line in some areas of the country for $15 a month dry loop, but that's just not going to happen here.

I'm not an ecstatic Suddenlink customer either, but I do realize that the company doesn't look at places like Winterville as pulling a high margin for all the infrastructure work that would be required to get our internet speeds higher.

Honestly though, with Suddenlink's already congested network, going to higher speeds is only going to create more chaos. Bottom line is that ALL HSI companies (cable more prominent) don't expect users to ever full utilize what they pay for and if they did, they know they'd be SCREWED.

Sure, you should get what you pay for. Sure you should have fantastic uptime. Sure you should get low latency. That being said, you're really picking between the least of 2 evils in our location.

anon posted : 50 million dollars in tax write-off deductions more than likely. SL sponsors a lot of local area events, nice office spaces, cool communication mechanisms for the top execs, then there is the advertising they shove down your throat, they are also investing in community development programs (whatever that means), the money spent on developing their wonderful "security" offerings, etc.

I wouldn't be surprised if none of the money was actually used to increase their infrastructure's capacity and capabilities. This is completely off subject but here is a good question, if I'm already a SL subscriber why do I have to endure their commercials and promo deals every 5 minutes when watching the tube? I swear every commercial I see pushes me that much closer to leaving SL...

nihilist78 posted : I also laugh (what else) when I see their commercials. They are funnier to me because their quality is so bad, I hope alot of that money didn't go their marketing department. Looks to me like they spent a ton on that new call center in Greenville.

My neighbor (Rocky Mount) is a field tech supervisor, and I was discussing it very quickly with him a few weeks ago. He gave me the corporate mantra about all the money they were spending on the head-end (I don't know cable tech or lingo). He referenced all the changes it would bring, 70-80 HD channels, VOD, 20+MB speeds, but here was what made me furious...this is all planned to be completed 18 months out.

If accurate, that speaks volumes to me that the total lack of a competitor gives Suddenlink no incentive to push any upgrades out. I hear people talk crap all the time about TWC, but everytime I go to Raleigh and see all the HD they have, I just feel sad.

Oh, and if I hear one more time about them launching home security, I swear I may cancel everything on principal alone. Who the **** cares about home security? Give me some damn HD or upload increases. I guess it's a big deal because Eastern NC is so crime infested.
