| [Sci-Fi] Next Trek film could be 3-D :(
According to the link below, J.J. Abrams is 'looking at the technology' for the next installment of Star Trek.
PLEASE DON'T!!
I $#@%# hate 3-D.

But that may change as the tech changes as well. |

Coraline immediately comes to mind. That being said 3-D is being overdone on movies that really don't take advantage of the technology effectively. You either get a 2-D movie that pretends to be 3-D or a movie made for those stupid 3-D effects (stuff coming right at you and the like). To me the best use of the technology would put you in the world the movie creates (like Coraline did). Now as for a 3-D Star Trek movie? Sounds like it would fall into either the 2-D pretending foray or a crappy 3-D movie. |

| reply to rlt2562 For those of us who don't have perfect vision (my right eye's been operated on 2x when I was 5yrs old b/c of my being in a car accident), no 3D works for me and it actually causes moderate headaches because of one eye trying to do the work of both for sending the signals to the brain for it to interpret.
I saw Coraline and Up! both in the theater and in 3D because I have relatives w/ kids that wanted to see them and I would have enjoyed the movies better if they had been shown in a standard format.
Guess I wont be seeing the next 'Trek movie unless they happen to release it in a non 3D version.... and that's just too bad that the ONLY reason JJ is considering this may be because of piracy and money concerns..... :/ -- There are 3 sides to every discussion: Mine, Yours & The Truth. | I think you're safe in that they will have a 2-D offering. Even Avatar, which is all hyped up as THE movie to see in 3-D is said to be released in 2-D as well. It makes sense considering not everybody wants to pay the extra scratch for 3-D, but are still willing to see the movie. |

All I can say is that U2 3D (concert flick) was AMAZING. For the making of that film they used every available 3D camera on the planet. It was very well done. |

| reply to darcilicious What's weird is that I think U2 is one of the best bands ever, and I loved Zoo TV, but I never even thought about seeing U2 3-D. I figured it's a music concert in 3-D, how good could it possibly be?

1 edit | reply to Rook008 said by Rook008 : I figured it's a music concert in 3-D, how good could it possibly be? I think they did a good job of using 3D what it should be used for. While you might NOT appreciate this there were times when it looked like Bono was in one's lap But more than that, you felt like you were at the concert a lot of the time because they did a good job of incorporating the concert crowd as well. |
