[HN7000S] new 'official' fap tool?

i just got off the phone with "Martin" in India to reset my fap (^&*# adobe updater) and he told me that hughes was testing a new tool to track usage... he said it would be updated hourly (currently ~2 hrs on my 7000s) and give users the ability to reset fap without calling india and running through the whole "go to 192.160... blah blah" process. anyone out there know anything about this, or, even better, have a link ? i spent 20 minutes begging for more info, but he wouldnt give much up.

i hope it is true, this is the type of official tool that hughes should have had available, oh, say the day they started selling limited internet access. i know about hnfapmon and greasemonkey scripts, but "Martin" told me that this would be an official usage info tool. hopefully it is a bit more useful than the other official hughesnet "tools"

I heard a similar rumor not too long ago from someone that's in a pretty good position to know. Not about the self FAP reset (seems unlikely), but about a better usage tool.

There really isn't any technical reason why they couldn't make it real-time tool, so let's hope for the best. At the very least any HN tool should help us nail down the specifics about the bucket, refill, etc.

Believe what you want.

Don't hold your breath.

The FAP meter is not much use unless they change it. It is pretty much a red, yellow, green thing.

"... purchase additional Tokens if needed."

I think I like that idea. I wonder how much they'll charge per additional token. Now if we could sell our unused free monthly tokens to others.....

I would buy tokens for 1 cent from hughes and 50 cent from "members".

How hard would it really be to make a prog that does live monitor? Im sure i could put one together in a day or 2 and i only made it to lvl2 VB if i only had the numbers.

I really want to see the automatic download manager and what they consider a large file to be. 10 years ago i thought 300-700 MB on dialup was a large file, today it would be 10-25 GB

I just wonder what the complementary token will cost... as in no free lunch.

how exciting! even if the indicator and manager dont work right, we have figured out our own ways to track that stuff... i would love to have the option to reset when i screw up, so long as i dont get charged automatically by the kb, like a cell plan.

seems like hughes finally started thinking about customer support and satisfaction. they must be taking a major hit from people switching to millenicom and other providers

You can download "download managers" freely on the internet. I used FDM (Free Download Manager), I downloaded anything I wanted from 2a-7a. It never messed up, and always downloaded 100%. (as long as your download completes before 7am!)

They are acting like 2am-7am is a new thing....

I check the tools out. Their not that great but its a start...all I care for is Token (will come in handy) and a better official meter so we can all compare.

This new meter only color codes Green, Orange and Red from the webpage of 192.168.0.1 so whatever.

It is about freaking time.

I have bitched about this for over a year.

I was not alone.

I feel better now, knowing that at least they are trying to full fill their obligations to their customers.

I will definitely look into this set of tools.

TY for the heads up.

well I just confirm that SAN ID is only 300MB. so that means we all are on the same level HN7000S and HN9000 pro package.

Tokens will come in handy

all the meter has is a green button and it says Within Service Download Threshold... worthless as a "meter"

download manager looks like a pretty straightforward dropbox queue... i cant do anything with the tokens yet ... hughesnet tools looks like the same useless app that has been available for years

That's awesome $10.50 for Fap release, next they are going to be selling throttle tokens for $17.50 for unthottled guaranteed speeds during peak times. I can only see this as a step backwards now that i look at it more.

Cant wait for them to try and add on 10.50 to my bill when i call in using my reference number.

Edit im working right now on a mod for usage using freemeter

As it stands this is all just in Beta testing from what I can see.

There are no "easy" links to any tools other then the normal crap.

So I would not get all excited over this as yet.
I am sure if they were available to general public it would be here.
