1 edit | Cablevision trying to keep a customer --> $250 bill!!!
Called up 7 months or so ago complaining the bill was too high ($175/mo) and we were thinking of switching to FiOS. So they gave us the tripple play or double play back for 6 months lowering us to about $150/month.
7 months later, promotion ends. Billing system apparently didn't factor in the previous month(s) not having the promotion, so it hits us up with "partial month" charges, making our september bill a total of $250!!!!
Does this make any sense? "Cablevision: They're bill is too high and they are thinking of switching services. Lets charge 'em $250!"
On top of that, we've been disputing this for over a few weeks now and now they want october too. That's $365!! And we're scheduled for disconnect today.
Good job CV... I think you've lost a customer.
Edit: Oh, and OOL is unreliable as hell. every few months, packet loss again. always something different and it takes them weeks to track it down. |

June $150 July $150 August $150 September $250 October $175
Notice the HUGE increase in september? All because of their buggy billing system. This isn't right at all. The bill should have just went up by $25, not by $100. |

Anyways, after all this they better fix my damn packet loss at least. I've had 2 techs over here scratching their heads, and a 3rd coming today. |

| reply to star64 their system is stupid it is because CV charges for the current month. however if your promo started not right during the billing cycle but after the current month bill was generated, you won't know about these changes for 2month. and at that time CV will credit you back partial month charges of those few days at the promo rate but then expect you to pay for ~2month of the regular rate.
it's hella convoluted and i was fighting with CV about this problem back in spring. i had to get through to their internal billing and collections department to figure out wtf was going on.
best thing for everybody on promo rates to do is to call CV and make sure/adjust that your dates match your billing cycles. -- Check out my awesome city of MxxTopia »mxxtopia.myminicity.com/ind or »mxxtopia.myminicity.com (the more people visit, the bigger it is) |

| If your monthly bill went from $150/mo to $175/mo, then I think the first month bill would be $200 - an extra $25 for the current month and an extra $25 for next month. Then it would be $175 the next month.
Is that what happened - total bill for the first two months was $366? That is about what I would have thought: $200 + $175. -- NOTHING justifies terrorism. We don't negotiate with terrorists. Those that support terrorists are terrorists. |

| reply to star64 The internet service is not the same in all areas: exellent and stable in some areas and horrible in others. As a customer you are responsible to track the promotion, not them. They offer you a deal and made you think about switching. Did you really thought they would be offering you this deal for as long as you want? Also do you really watch all the channels you pay for at least once a month?
May be is time you really switch and compare. |

| reply to star64 File a complaint with your local PUC. I had this issue awhile back and I got the information together and the contact I was speaking with and then called the PUC. I heard back from the PUC about 30 minutes later and they informed me that Cablevision would be issuing me a credit and a couple hours after that I receiived a call from Cablevision saying not only would they credit me the difference but they lowered the bill back down to what it was before the increase. You just need to complain to the right people and all of a sudden the highway robbery at Cablevision stops. -- Certs: CCNA, GPEN, GCIH, GCFW, GSEC, GCIA, GCFA |

I think RickNY has the right idea, and by seeing a copy of the charges on the bill it will become clearer where the charges came from, and if CV screwed anything up or if the OP (and the billing rep, apparently) just are not sure what they're looking at. |
