Dell PE2850 can't boot from CD

So we have a Dell Power Edge 2850

my coworker installed Win2003 R2 standard 64bit on it yesterday, but at reboot it was hanging on the SCSI card bios.

I updated the mobo bios to A7 and both the SCSI controllers. Have not updated the BCM card yet. In order for me to boot from FDD I had to blow away the HD array.

So now we have 2003 loaded but we set wrong size drives and license...

We can't get this thing to boot from optical.
At boot up we see the message "press any key to boot from CD...." or whatever it is but the system bypasses it.
I tried a local USB keyboard too.

FYI I was able to get to the BIOS (yesterday with the old BIOS, and firmware for the SCSI I would not even get there) and set the memory to 256MB for OS install mode.

Also, FYI, but at IBM it was best practice to install the BMC update prior to the BIOS. The BMC relies on features in the BIOS and vice versa, however, the BIOS is a lot more intolerant if BMC features are missing. Additionally, you can apply the BMC update without a reboot; so you can update the BMC, update the BIOS, THEN reboot.

More than likely there is a setting for Legacy USB "enabled" in the BIOS not set.

The BIOS will detect a USB keyboard, but will not emulate it to the 'DOS' subsystem outside of the BIOS. It won't work again until Windows recognizes it.

Try a PS/2 Keyboard, or look for the USB emulation setting in the BIOS.

As I stated earlier I got it to boot from CD after setting the system in OS install mode in the bios limiting to 256MB ram.
