I work for an environmental agency. Thank you for reminding me what I am working for (or should I say against). That will be posted at work today. |

It's amazing to me that we (powerful nations) allow this to continue.
That's like my neighbor down the block taking a shit on his front lawn, and dumping his trash in the backyard. Shit rolls downhill, so it'll effect me at some point. The Earth has an amazing ability to cleanse itself (to a point), but I'm not sure why anyone lets China get away with this stuff.
I have many friends who are first-generation Chinese here in the U.S. Now I know why their parents left China.

1 edit | reply to instantdry What is even more frightening is that some of that stuff is flowing into the Pacific ocean. Over time (many years), what are the chances that your next vacation will be marinating in such a foul mixture? Yuck...

So you're saying that even though the world and this civilization has grown in the past 100 years...nobody can learn from it?
Don't get me wrong, I know many countries, including the USA, can be very ignorant at times, but seriously...
The photographic evidence only shows that some governments just plain don't care because it brings jobs to their countries (I'm looking at you, all you USA companies going "Global (laugh, we know your reasons)"). | Oh, and let me add 1 thing...countries that do this kind of thing, polluting their own country to bring profit to themselves; the only thing they're accomplishing is becoming a subservient race to the whims of industry. They lose all credibility with any nation that actually has power to handle world issues -- Windows XP Pro SP3 / Windows 7 64bit RC|AMD Phenom X3 8650|Asus M3N72-D Motherboard|4GB Patriot PC2-8500 1066MHz RAM|EVGA GeForce GTS 250 1GB Ram Superclock Edition |

1 edit | Hate to add a 3rd reply. Yes...I can edit my original post for this but people are reading and should get an update without refreshing the page.
My background is in industrial work. From the ground up, working as a grunt in general labor for factories up to a liaison between the office and the work floor (manager for those who don't know), I've seen plenty in the US to know why we're losing ground to outsourcing. It has nothing to do with a global economy as the US government would like you to believe. While I've yet to reach the higher tiers (office only), I've seen many things in my life to see that corporations are only looking to increase the profit of those who actually own or are in coercion with the owners of the companies in the US. Even publicly traded companies. I know you all have seen it too to some extent.
In topic to this thread, Environmental issues are a heavy expense to companies in the USA. This is part of the reason (the other part is because of very cheap labor) why USA companies wish for the "globalization" of industry. They really don't care about creating jobs in other countries. They only care for how much profit they can gain.
EDIT: FYI...been drinking tonight. Not heavily, but enough. These 3 posts in this thread are my opinion. You can agree with it or not. I generally keep my feelings about things controlled but as some of you may know, alcohol kinda makes "control" a recommendation (or completely unavailable), not a requirement. I also have a problem with posting while inebriated lately. I'm trying to stop that but not this time. -- Windows XP Pro SP3 / Windows 7 64bit RC|AMD Phenom X3 8650|Asus M3N72-D Motherboard|4GB Patriot PC2-8500 1066MHz RAM|EVGA GeForce GTS 250 1GB Ram Superclock Edition |
