[ThumbsUp] For Rogers this time for speed

NetWorx Monitor
Ok I'm always very critical but for the first time since I've had rogers I've downloaded about 4Gig from NNTP at max speed with no hiccups or lag whatsoever. Maybe this will change my view of Rogers.

Looks pretty good... thanks for the (indirect) reference to Networx - looks like a cool tool - playing with it now...

it also works perfectly with W7x64, this thing is great, it has stats, list open ports, daily, weekly, monthly and it's really free.

Wait, rogers is offering free nntp at full speeds now?

Edit: Oh, you just mean you can get full speeds from a 3rd party newsgroup provider.

Which newsgroup provider were you using Stewy? I've been using Giganews for about 2-3 years now and not once have I ever experienced lag or hiccups. Unless of course the connection itself was being flaky (Something that hasn't happened in at least a year and a half for me on Rogers).

This has not been my experience at all. I used to be able to download @ 800 KB/S from Giganews with SSL until about 2 weeks ago. These days I barely get 200KB/S.

So I decided I would upgrade to the Extreme Plus plan and the speeds are still stuck at 200KB/s

I get ~ 1.17 MB/s using SSL encryption on a European server. Giganews is way over-priced. Try Astraweb.

same with the above poster, I've always received full speeds (almost 1.2MB/sec) from Astraweb. I joined the pay by download plan where is $25 for 180 gigs/mth. This includes SSL connection and I download from the US servers

I use newsguy with ssl for about $8.80 Cdn/month paid yearly but thing is that your unused rolls over so I have about 700Gig in my account I've been with them for some 8 years now and also have my email with them to. 300 day retention and very good article completion. When you open a group and see 54 Million headers you kinda go hhhmmmm.

binsearh.net nzb + newsguy + Agent + SSD + 10Mbps = happy

Thats cool it rolls over but do you still have pay your $8.80 every month? My Astraweb account also rolls over but I do not have to pay $25 every month. I only pay when I run out of the 180 gigs. I dont download that much so this plan is perfect for me. Correction on my initial post, the $25 is for 180 gigs for life, and does not expire at the end of the month.

I pay $99 once a year. $25 for 180 is actually quite good.

4 x $25 = 720Gig
1 x $99 = 600Gig + email
