Where oh where is my modem?

I got my Millenicom service and my modem and router arrived on the 18th of last month. Well on the 26th the franklin died (probably burned itself out as it was getting very hot). Got a ticket issued that night and cant get anyone to tell me the status. Support has no idea and all they can do is email others. I have been emailing Julie in billing but she doesnt know either.
What adds insult to injury is that I have had no connection since the 26th and I get my 69.99 charge.

Maybe I made a mistake!

Pro tip: email Dennis Castle @ director@millenicom.com and your problem will be sorted out.

Sprint MBB thru Millenicom Unlimited service - Franklin CDU-680 (with 32" omni) connected to a CTR-350; Linksys WRT160N running DD-WRT in repeater mode one room away from the Cradlepoint, to cover the house with 4 bars of N WiFi.

I've been waiting for my Franklin for about two weeks. I finally called yesterday and was told they are out of them. I was offered an Ovation MC760 instead and took them up on it. This is my first service with them so I haven't been up and running yet. Still on HughesNet.

Thats a great USB device. You'll be very happy with it. A better choice than the Franklin by far. Consider yourself fortunate to have it offered.

Its a PITA for Millenicom to ship, swap modems ..as it would be for any company that deals with that headache of traffic.

The BYOD plan is the fastest, easiest way to get you online in a matter of hours ... instead of days.

Frankly, I think they should get out of the business of including modems and have you provide your own.

BYOD is the best solution I've heard yet. All they need to do is provide a list of compatible devices and you get your own.

If they want to continue to rent/sell devices, you can't stop them, but with BYOD you have a better choice of devices, and under the current situation, you can choose a Sprint device (assuming of course that you have Sprint service in your area) and take advantage of the 'new unlimited' account.

Well dennis replied as well as Julie. Seems they have a new shipper and are getting conflicting accounts about whether things are shipped or not.
I did recieve an email from the USPS that they got electronic notification that the package was ready to ship yesterday.

I think Millenicom is a good company it has just been frustrating to get everything, get it working and 9 days later lose it again without anyone being able to tell you whats going on.

Thanks for the help and support!

I agree with you guys about the BYOD. I should have gone that way in the first place after finding this forum and before I ordered service from Millenicom.

Correct me if I'm wrong on this, but I believe the MC760 works on Verizon, in which case you'll be subject to the 5Gb cap, and they do enforce it, as testified to by several posters to this forum.

If you have the opportunity, or it's not too late, see if you can get the U760, which I believe is a Sprint device (assuming you have Sprint coverage where you are) and then you can get the new unlimited account for just $10/mon more. Well worth it.

Your other alternative is to just refuse MCom's device and buy your own if the BYOD program is still open. You need to verify this with MCom as this program appears to open and close in seemingly random patterns. A good choice if you can get Sprint would be the Sierra 598U, or one of the Novatel devices.

Good Luck!

Well I already have the unlimited service with mcom which is why I had the Franklin in the first place. Maybe it's just a typo and they mean the U760.

I guess I'll find out in a few days but I'm paying the 69.99 for unlimited so thats what I should get.

Another interesting thing is on the Millenicom website they are selling the MBR900 4-Port Router - $149.99 and no mention of the Simple Mobility router....hmmmm maybe they would let me swap since I've had the Simple Mobility router less than a month.....I doubt it tho!!!!

The Ovation MC760 is now a dual service modem and works on both Verizon and Sprint. It use to be that the U760 was just for Sprint now it does both....according the Millenicom. I called them specifically to ask that question.

TIMINATOR: Interesting what you found out about the Ovation. Does it sniff out the correct frequency or do you have to set it with the connection software?

JOE: what brand is the router you mentioned? If you are looking for a good router, check with Cradlepoint to see if your device is supported. Many posters here, including yours truly, have had excellent results with CP products.
