So how on earth are they fitting CDMA 2g, EVDO, and HSPA on the same band? Or am I underestimating how much free PCS spectrum they have (no Tmobile/Sprint equivelents in CA)?

Canadian carriers all enjoy pretty favourable spectrum positions. No major shortfalls up here because of the lower population and smart network planning. Also, Bell and Telus are building the HSPA+ network as a joint venture meaning they can pool their spectrum resources. Even certain portions of their CDMA networks are built under a network sharing agreement.

I guess we'll see if it's really 93%. I see if I can pick them up on my GSM phone as a carrier over the next couple of days. Yes, I can pick my network on my phone... Saves roaming charges in the US, and I can set it to "home only".
