Re: COD Modern Warefare 2 ................Who's buying?

Having seen the leaked perks & killstreak rewards list, the multiplayer is going to be ridiculously lame.

A perk that removes falling damage? A killstreak reward that gives you a nuke? Seriously? Lol

i'm torn. the youtube views look very compelling, but the lack of dedicated servers and mods have me not wanting to persue it. The last PC game i bought was MW1 and i paid either 30$ or 40$. I love the dedicated servers and the mods. The only time i play on regular servers is if the mod servers are full. It will suck if all my game playing will consist of facebook games, lmao. Might get a DSi or PSP. I'm really not feeling consoles yet.

Modern Warfare 2 has long earned the ire of PC gamers for its lack of dedicated servers, but Infinity Ward has now announced that it's taking away much more than control over hosting with the game in one long face-palm of a question and answer session. No servers, no console, no mods, no problem!

This is a pure console to PC port. Loved the first one, not buying this one.

Well I bought it because I'm not a whiny bitch.

They're probably trying to encourage MORE people to play the PC version rather than scare people off. Most people are intimidated by PC games because they're simply harder to get going. I see their move, and I'm buying the game anyways.

Signing an online petition is just stupid, you're wasting your time. They don't care. If they did you'd have the dedicated servers that you desire.

On another note, is it preloading for anyone on Steam yet?

And kw simultaneously wins the "Least Likely To Make Any Positive Change In The World" and "Most Likely To Conform" awards.

Congratulations on not "whining" and making absolutely no difference in the world whatsoever.

Your reward is the general enmity of all progressive thinkers on the planet.

Yeah, I'll bet that big-bad online petition will really change the world.

I don't get how their actions encourage more people to play on the PC. I haven't heard anyone for this except yourself.

The way multiplayer works on the Xbox/PS3 is much simpler than on PC. You choose the type of game you want, and the system finds the best suitable "server" to play on.

With dedicated servers you have to normally blindly click servers until you find one you want, with the settings you want. It's tedious and annoying to users who aren't familiar with PC games to have to do that.

Personally, I don't mind doing that...but I don't think it breaks the game for me for two reasons:
1. I don't care for a lot of people on the same server
2. I'm not in a clan.

Re: COD Modern Warefare 2 ................Who's buying?

The games are essentially hosted on some random guy's connection, who knows if his computer or Internet is up to that task. I predict that there's going to be a lot of lag issues, you'll need a decent connection to host 9vs9 games.

There is really no reason not to have Matchmaking and Dedicated servers at the same time, if you want more of those console features. But don't take away features and then charge more for less.

Does replying to an individual user matter? No. They both end up in the list and my comments about your thoughtless comments are meant for everyone to see.

And yes, matchmaking has proven to be less functional. Anyone play L4D? How often do you end up in a server with crap latency?

matchmaking blows and p2p is 21341231231x worse. it sucks in demigod and it sucks in borderlands, and those are only 1-10 player games.

Realistically not many users will be able to host lag free games. For 9v9 you will need at least a consistent 2.5mbit upload.

No.

If they patch it to allow dedicated servers then maybe. At the very least allow DS in addition to their match-making service. I'm not saying the match-making service isn't for some people, just not me or the community I play with.

I really enjoyed COD4 and COD:waw. I was looking forward to MW2. I pre-ordered it, but have since canceled it.

I understand (kind of) their reasons for going with the IW.net idea, but why not put that in addition to the normal server browser.

While they are at it, they should allow consoles and PC's play against each other if they so desire :P ....... who am I kidding, that will never happen.
